Terri Schiavo's Remains Buried In Clearwater
-----------------
POSTED: 10:13 pm EDT June 20, 2005
-----------------
TAMPA, Fla. -- Terri Schiavo's husband buried her cremated remains in a Clearwater cemetery Monday, inscribing on her bronze grave marker that "I kept my promise."

(snip)

David Gibbs, an attorney for the woman's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, said inscribing the marker that way was a nasty political statement by Michael Schiavo, who held the service and burial Monday before telling her family.

"Obviously, that's a real shot and another unkind act toward a grieving mom and dad," Gibbs said.

(snip)

A service at the cemetery was officiated by a priest, the statement said. Michael Schiavo and at least one his brothers attended.

"Mrs. Schiavo's parents, as ordered by the court, have been advised of the exact location of Mrs. Schiavo's site," Felos' statement said.

1. Her parents wanted her buried in Florida
They got what they wanted and they are still at Michael's throat. Nice folks.

2. Michael can't win
The Shiavo's were having a fit because it was said Michael was going to bury Terri's remains In Pennsylvania. I swear, he could take the poor girl's ashes, add a cup of milk and reainimate her and these ghouls would still be unhappy. The Shiavo's need grief counseling and a new money spigot.

18. I think you mean the Schindlers.
Edited on Mon Jun-20-05 11:17 PM by Husb2Sparkly
I'd prefer to respect Michael and his family by leaving their family name - Schiavo - out of discussions.

Not barking at you .... but for me, I prefer to refer to her as the Schindler's daughter rather than her married name. The Schiavo's have wanted nothng but privacy and dignity. The Schindlers are the ones who ran the circus.

But I get your point ... and I agree.

What wrong with
Keeping a promise to his wife......in a marriage there is only 1 bed for 2 and its for the husband and the wife ... all others should just bugger off.

11. Given his suituation
That simple line "I Kept My Promise" is so full of meaning.

Its not a normal line one who put on a grave marker.

To call that an unkind act is just too much for me to accept....bloody bastard.

6. Frist saw the ashes on a video and came to the conclusion that...
they could be brought to life with prayer and physical therapy.

He kept his promise. I admire him for it.

7. The Schindlers wanted her freeze-dried and mounted to keep on the couch
A more comforting alternative to burial or cremation.
Freeze-dry preservation.

Pets, be it cat or dog, become a very important part of our lives. They give us so much unconditional love and affection. It doesn't matter if we are rich or poor, young or old, or what we look like, all they want is our approval and attention. When we leave our homes, they are there to say good-bye and when we return they are there to welcome us with love and excitement.

But someday the time comes when we say that final "good-bye". The loss of our pet leaves a tremendous hole in our life and the grief can be overwhelming. Sometimes the grief is stronger than giving up a relative or loved one. When the time comes that we must let go, we are faced with the dilemma of what to do with our beloved pet. In humans, society dictates burial or cremation. With a pet however, we have an alternative to burial or cremation. Today's technology has made freeze-dry preservation - a more comforting alternative - an option.

With this method we can preserve your pet in a restful and peaceful manner. Although they are no longer living, we can keep them in our presence. A pet is many things to different people. To many pet owners burial and cremation are not acceptable. Very often we receive calls from grieving pet owners, and many of them tell us "we just cannot stand the thought of burying our pet."

8. Oh, PULEEZE.. Everything is about them (the parents)
I sympathize with them, I truly do, but at some point they need to just move on, let themselves grieve, and celebrate her memory. Damn this is getting old...

9. They're not grieving...
They think she'll talk again. Dr. Frist and Randy Terry told them so.

And I mean in "this" life, not in some afterworld, which I don't believe exists.

26. It has always been my impression that an inscription be about the buried
not about the living. It should have been about Terri not about Michael. Those are the words that should be on his tombstone not hers. Just my $.02 worth

30. my mother's gravestone
My dad had a couple of initials placed in a corner of my mom's gravestone. They stand for a little saying they had between them from the days they were courting. They are a message from my Dad to my Mom, and I think its a really wonderful thing. I see nothing wrong (and much that is right and sweet) in Michael Schiavo putting a message to Terri on her gravestone.

15. Will the grave become the site of an ongoing circus?
I suspect it will. Also, religious crackpots will surely deface the inscription once they locate it.

"Mrs. Schiavo's parents, as ordered by the court, have been advised of the exact location of Mrs. Schiavo's site," Felos' statement said.
...
"A pond and fountain also mark the woman's grave site, which was festooned with flowers Monday evening. The flat bronze marker lists Terri Schiavo's birthdate, Dec. 3, 1963 and says she "departed this earth" on Feb. 25, 1990, and was "at peace" on March 31, 2005."

19. I think it is a nice inscription too
But there will be crackpots out there who will want to get in something about her being "murdered", and it won't phase them to vandalize her grave. They will think they are doing it for God. I suppose it is up to the parents to keep the location to themselves. That doesn't seem likely, after all that has happened.

28. The cemetery's name was in the local paper
It's about 3 miles from here. A very nice place. There will probably be some kind of security for awhile. When I read the article, I thought it was a big fuck you to the parents. To have the grave in Clearwater and the parents live in Gulfport, its a about a 45 min drive to get there and for the parents to see that fuck you every time they go to the grave site. I thought that that was about right for all the shit that the parents put him through

24. Nominated...
No offense to truthpusher, but we need a system like the "Greatest" nomination system...except it could be "stories that are worse than kicking a dead horse."

Not only do we need that category, but we need an auto-nominate on any story with the name "Schiavo" in it....
