Annan hails Iraq 'turning point'
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has said international support pledged towards rebuilding Iraq marks a "turning point" for the country.

Mr Annan was speaking at the end of a conference in Brussels that issued a declaration of support for Iraq.

"This conference marked a watershed for Iraq," Mr Annan said afterwards.

During the conference, Mr Annan told delegates the international community was determined to ensure that Iraqi reconstruction was a success.

6. To the contrary. The collaboration of 80 countries to help stabilize,...
,...and reconstruct Iraq is prolly a huge blow to the BushCo/neoCON plans!!! Remember, PNACers thrive off turmoil and chaos. This international effort will not be received kindly by the PNACers who want to destabilize the entire M.E. in order to impose control over it.

2. A watershed for Iraq?
Well, I guess that so much of Iraq is desert that some watersheds can be exceedingly subtle.

3. Most pledged money hasn't arrived yet
No reason to think new pledges will fare any better.

7. Empty rhetoric
won't get the job done. If by some stroke of generosity some nations do invest in helping to pull Iraq back together, you can be sure they will expect to get something big in return. Like political control, cheap labor, lucrative deals and cream off the top. Bushco has blasted Iraq back to the stone ages. And we thought Saddam was a bad man.
