Randall Terry to challenge state GOP Senate leader over Schiavo
This ought to be fun :o

Jun 22, 1:09 PM EDT
By RON WORD
Associated Press Writer

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The battle over Terri Schiavo's life and death will now be fought in a Republican primary between an anti-abortion activist who became her parents' spokesman and a state Senate leader who helped block a bill aimed at keeping the brain-damaged woman alive.

Randall Terry, who founded the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue and helped lead the effort to reinsert Schiavo's feeding tube, officially launched his GOP primary campaign Wednesday to unseat former Senate President Jim King.

Terry, with about 25 supporters standing behind him, said King no longer represents the Republican base. King was one of the nine Republicans who teamed with Democrats to block a bill in the last legislative session aimed at keeping Schiavo alive.

"The Terri Schiavo matter was unforgivable to many of the Republican loyalists. His appointment of Democrats to key positions (in the Senate) alienated another entire group and the third thing is his stand on medical malpractice. Those three things have infuriated people," said Terry, 46.

38. In truth, King isn't all that bad. He has done a very good job despite
being a Republican. I'd much rather have King than Terry any day. King is a moderate. Terry is beyong radical.

What Randall got blown out in NY or somewhere and now he's trying to run down here?

The carpetbagger label will sink him, especially in North Florida

Its okay if Randall breaks the commandments... but his adopted son being gay? Now that, according to Randall, is bad.

25. His son is gay, BTW
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 03:22 PM by kskiska
Randall Terry jokes about gay past with radio host Alan Colmes: News Hounds reports a bizarre conversation between radical anti-abortion leader Randall Terry, whose son is gay, and Alan Colmes of Hannity and Colmes.

After Colmes reminds Terry that he predicted a death penalty for abortion providers, Terry changes the subject: "Are you drinking Red Bull? ... You're like on drugs. ... I think that it's time that you and I just admit to the whole world that's listening that we used to be homosexual lovers, we had a fight and now you're ..."

Colmes replies, "I know you're attracted to me, and I understand you're vehemently anti-gay, you've spoken out against ... and yet you have a gay son, from what I understand, don't you?"

Terry says, "Yes, very heart-wrenching," and then cuts the interview short. Back to the top!

"'Let the hate wash over you. ... Hate is good.' If you were there, you could hear people laughing. It's obviously a joke.

"What I was saying, though, was, 'If you don't hate child pornography and child molestation, something is wrong with you.'

"It was taken completely out of context. I hate retail politicking. I wear well in person. If you take my quotes out of context ... I look like a lunatic."

44. Activist (Randall Terry) Begins Senate Campaign to Oust King
http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050623/NEWS/506230418/1004

"JACKSONVILLE -- The battle over Terri Schiavo's life and death will now be fought in a Republican primary between an antiabortion activist who became her parents' spokesman and a state Senate leader who helped block a bill aimed at keeping the brain-damaged woman alive.

Randall Terry, who founded the antiabortion group Operation Rescue and helped lead the effort to reinsert Schiavo's feeding tube, officially launched his GOP primary campaign Wednesday to unseat former Senate President Jim King.

Terry, with about 25 supporters standing behind him, said King no longer represents the Republican base. King was one of the nine Republicans who teamed with Democrats to block a bill in the last legislative session aimed at keeping Schiavo alive."

Here's some relevant past quotes from Randall Terry:

"Let a wave of intolerance wash over you. I want you to let a wave of hatred wash over you. Yes, hate is good.... If a Christian voted for Clinton, he sinned against God. It's that simple.... Our goal is a Christian Nation... we have a biblical duty, we are called by God to conquer this country. We don't want equal time. We don't want Pluralism. We want theocracy. Theocracy means God rules. I've got a hot flash. God rules."

"When I, or people like me, are running the country, you'd better flee, because we will find you, we will try you, and we will execute you. I mean every word of it. I will make it part of my mission to see to it that they are tried and executed... If we're going to have true reformation in America, it is because men once again, if I may use a worn out expression, have righteous testoserone flowing through their veins. They are not afraid of contempt for their contemporaries. They are not even here to get along. They are here to take over... Somebody like Susan Smith should be dead. She should be dead now. Some people will go, "Well how do you know God doesn't have a wonderful plan for her life?" He does, it's listed in the Bible. His plan for her is that she should be dead."

"What it is coming down to is who runs the country. It's us against them. It's the good guys versus the bad guys. It's the God-fearing people against the pagans, and some of the pagans are going to church."

I'm shocked. SHOCKED!!! I tell you to find out he's running as a Republican in Florida.
