Three GIs Killed in Combat Near Baghdad
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Three U.S. soldiers were killed by small-arms fire during combat operations west of Baghdad, the military said Wednesday.

The soldiers were killed Tuesday near the city of Ramadi, the military said. They were attached to the U.S. Army's 2nd Brigade Combat Team, which is assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force.

Ramadi, an insurgent stronghold, is 70 miles west of Baghdad.

2. You ain't seen nothin' yet
I think one reason * thinks he's still "winning" is he is old enough to remember, while downing highballs at the Texas Air National Guard officers' club, that often hundreds per week were dying during Vietnam.

And this went on for frickin' year after year as Gen. Westmoreland said there's "light at the end of the tunnel."

4. We've already "lost". The only question remaining
is how many more will die before one of two things happen, IMHO:

A) We negotiate a ceasefire with the resistance and withdraw

or

B) We "retreat" under fire, after our bodycount reaches 10,000+ (and Iraqi bodycount, extrapolating from current numbers, exceeds 1,000,000).

I believe this was "lost" before we even invaded, but certainly when troops got caught in Ambush Alley in Nasiriyah, the writing was on the wall. (N.B. The bloodbath in Ambush Alley occurred before the "fall of Baghdad".)

3. Still no word on the nine dead Saturday
I'm starting to believe that they weren't coalitition, or Iraqis, but that maybe, just maybe they were private contractors, especially after watching Frontline last night.

8. That was a great program on Frontline
last night. To me, it gave a very realistic view of what is going on over there.......

13. Yes it was
I don't know where to find the number of these guys, maybe on icasulties, but it seemed to me last night that they would be ripe low hanging fruit when the Iraqis go after them.

6. More red dots on a map that no one looks at
three more flagged draped coffins delivered in the dark

numbers and postage-sized photos on a sign by the side of the road that will be removed because no one wants to hear the message.

10. our elected representatives have better things to do than worry about the
war they got us into. We gotta pass that flag protection amendment - somebody, somewhere might be desecrating Old Glory!

12. Three families
Whose hearts are about to break.

And countless friends and loved ones who will also feel the loss.

Strangers like me will mourn as well.

Have they scrambled the recruiters? Three more billets to fill!!

R.I.P. Soldiers. I will never forget the treason that put you in harms way.
