Blair tells EU to change or fail
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4119472.stm

The European Union faces a "crisis in political leadership" and must change to win back public support, Prime Minister Tony Blair has told Euro MPs.

Mr Blair, outlining plans for the UK's six-month EU presidency, argued the EU would fail "on a grand scale" if did not face up to globalisation. "Only by change will Europe recover its strength, its relevance, its idealism" and therefore public support, he said.

Mr Blair said he did not think Europe quite realised the competitive challenged it faced from countries like China and India. He was met with both heckles and applause when he said he had always been a "passionate pro-European". He insisted he wanted to reinvigorate the EU, not wreck it.

He argued the French and Dutch voters' rejection of the draft European constitution reflected a wide discontent with the EU.

3. Blair peddles the failed

Anglo-Saxon, short-sighted approach to economic and social policy. He is basically saying, to paraphrase the Wicked Witch of the West, "surrender AND die" to the average blokes of Western Europe.

What he and * are saying to the North American and European middle classes is to go "Cheney" yourselves and get used to the status Chinese workers currently "enjoy."

The only recourse remaining, I'm afraid, is revolution. The elites as represented by Blair have deliberately misinterpreted what the French and Dutch negative votes meant.

5. The countries that make up the EU...
would be wise to ignore blair (or at least wait until some "EU Minutes" are published) because his word is shyte.

Just one look at the cost of corporate facsism in this country should cause them to walk away from blair's deal.

Are they smart enough to know that once you buy into corporate globalization your country will lose it's sovereignty?

Actually the "pooling" of national sovereignty into the EU is the main thing that the British do not like about The EU, right wing Britons especially. The EU is hardly a champion of national sovereignty.
