MoveOn PAC Statement in Response to Karl Rove's Attempt to Distract Attention from the President's Failed Iraq Policy

WASHINGTON, June 23 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a statement by Eli Pariser, executive director of MoveOn PAC, in response to Karl Rove's attempt to distract attention from the President's failed Iraq policy:

Karl Rove is trying to change the subject on the President's failed Iraq policy. Even members of his own party, like Senator Chuck Hagel, a Vietnam veteran, has criticized the Administration as " ... completely disconnected from reality. It's like they're making it up as they go along. ... " Recent polls show growing majorities want an exit strategy. Lying about MoveOn won't solve Rove's problem. MoveOn did not oppose the U.S. military action in Afghanistan.

Convoy of Death

Why have US television stations refused to broadcast this documentary?

In Afghanistan, filmmaker Jamie Doran has uncovered evidence of a massacre: Taliban prisoners of war suffocated in containers, shot in the desert under the watch of American troops.

The film has been broadcast on national television in countries all over the world and has been screened by the European parliament. Human rights lawyers are calling for investigation into whether U.S. forces are guilty of war crimes. But no U.S. media outlet has broadcast the film.

3. john walker lynde was
a part of some of that-
i read his interview, he was wounded, and talking to a reporter on the flight back to the US- What happened to him, and the 'plea bargan' was all designed to keep him quiet-

That 'riot' at the prison he was held at, and the containers the prisoners were held in, and some drowned in was something that no one wants to know about or admit- i will look and see if i can find any remaining story- it blew my mind- he was a young man of principal- that much came through- and the way he was being abused and 'worked over' by the Green Beret who died during the riot, makes me wonder why folks didn't question what the hell we were doing way back then- but of course, "he was a traitor"-
bah-

4. This was a huge war crime. I don't believe that Move On is in any
way endorsing those crimes. They were just stating for the record that they had not opposed the war in Afghanistan at the time. I don't believe that they will fail to oppose any future wars.
