Iraq insurgents snatch victory from defeat (co-ordinated sophisticated)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1513540,00.html

"Dawn had yet to break and Baghdad's biggest police station, like the rest of the city, was quiet. About 80 officers dozed inside the fortress, leaving just a few sentries guarding the walls, razor wire and concrete barriers.

It started with mortars. A series of whooshes from north and south followed seconds later by explosions inside the perimeter. Figures emerged from the gloom and knelt in the middle of Hi al-Elam and Qatar Nada streets, pointing rocket launchers.
~snip~
The combination of heavy shelling, diversionary feints, infantry thrusts and suicide vehicles - the "precision-guided" equivalent of tanks - left parts of the district of Hi al-Elam a smoking ruin. If the objective was to overrun the station and free its prisoners the offensive failed. The attackers retreated after two hours, leaving dozens dead and captured. But if the objective was to send a message of power and determination it succeeded."

neat how the resistance co-ordinates its last throes!
my take on this is that it shows that at least part of the iraqi resistance is using "advanced" military tactics and this would suggest to me that they arent foreign "jihadists"

1. We ain't seen nothing yet folks. Now that the US and Britain are gonna
parcel out their country's oil fields, they really have nothing to lose. That's their only asset.

A man/woman is most dangerous when they have nothing to lose.

Chalabi will never see the scenery outside the Green Zone again.

dying.
One general said the other day that the insurgents will lose. Like they did in Fallujah.
They attacked in fallujah the other day. o who lost?

America's Military leaders refuse to learn and adapt.

6. Didn't moron bremer fire 200K Iraqi soldiers?????
Sounds like those same soldiers are now using plying their trade.
Dead enders, last throes, foreign fighers...bullshit.

What now is happening is simple, those same soldiers that were above the rank of corporal, taught their fellow Iraqis how to fight properly. It took a couple of years for them to get it down, but like some general just said, it's not getting better, it's getting worse and more sophisticated.

"The media got Tet wrong and they're getting Iraq wrong. We are winning but people won't know that if all they are hearing about is death and violence."

Umm, right.

8. Yup, can't let death and violence get in the way of our happy talk.
That would be defeatist and un-patriotic.
