Appeals Court Overturns Sale of PBS Station…Televangelists Highest Bidders
Appeals Court Overturns Sale of PBS TV Station, Saying Televangelists Were Highest Bidders

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A state appeals court has overturned a community college's sale of a public television station to a local foundation, ruling it illegally accepted a lower bid to make sure the station didn't go to a televangelist group.

The Coast Community College District must hold a new sale of KOCE-TV, or, "if the district's trustees find the prospect of televangelists eventually acquiring KOCE to be too distasteful, no sale at all," said the opinion Thursday.

The Orange County district violated the law by not selling KOCE-TV to the highest bidder, the court ruled.

Milford Dahl, an attorney for the college district, said he would recommend that the district appeal to the state Supreme Court.

4. I think most already are.
The stuff I get on my PBS channel sure seems to be showing a lot of stuff I could see on those 8 religious channels cable offers.

Really, do I need PBS to show me modern Christian singer concerts? Well, maybe some of those old films of Gospel becoming Blues and Rock...but those people were supporting the Civil Rights Movements so I'm guessing we won't see much of that.

I'm giving up on PBS. They probably made a big stink about cutting funding so that people don't notice the right wing propaganda machine in action. Watch, I'll bet they get increase funding through some special "homeland security" fund...or maybe tsunami relief funds or 'rebuild Iraq' funds.

5. I'm of the same opinion. We just have to acknowlege that
everything is a game of lies with the Pukes. They knew there would be an outcry over funding and planned their course. Like you , I have given up on PBS. The fundie cult will win this one. Their followers will sit around the set with glazed eyes raising their hands and swaying , pleasing their masters.
