Company deals with shock after ‘fragging’ allegations

The room where the explosion hit has been rebuilt. The memorial ceremony here was more than a week ago. A new company commander has taken the reins.

Still, the New York National Guard members with Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 42nd Infantry Division will worry and wait for the next few months to see what happens in a military criminal case that accuses one of their own of killing two of their officers.

“This is the type of situation that just doesn’t go away,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Richard Fearnside, the division’s ranking enlisted soldier.

CSM is MORE lifer than the most lifer officer in the unit.Ask PRIVATES what they thought about Capt. Esposito for a better indication of if there was a problem.In Vietnam fragging victims were usually the result of a personal dispute or an officer PERCEIVED TO BE ENDANGERING the troops..It probably wasn't 2nd Lt Allen,who was a newby and hadn't had time to piss off ANYONE, but the lowest troop in that command has a pretty good idea if either of the motives I mentioned were operant...
