US knows Zarqawi whereabouts: top US general
Edited on Sun Jun-26-05 03:49 PM by maddezmom
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US military is close to locating Al-Qaeda's frontman in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, General John Abizaid, the commander of US forces in the region, said.

"I think we have a good idea" of where to find him, Abizaid told CNN.

"We know what we're doing in our efforts how to get him," he said.

"But I want to also stress that it's not about one man. It's about his network. His network exists inside Iraq. It's connected to Al-Qaeda. It's got facilitation nodes in Syria," Abizaid told the US cable news channel.

"It brings foreign fighters in from Saudi Arabia and from North Africa. It is connected to what is happening in Afghanistan and what is happening in Pakistan. It is a global battle that we face," he said.

1. I thought he was dead
and now he is alive.

And maybe tomorrow he will be captured.

Next week he will be plotting again.

That is one elusive motherfucker right there!

and where to find Pandora's Box.

But the one thing they cannot seem to find is those crowds of Iraqis singing and dancing in the streets.

8. Quit talking, quit bullshitting, and just DO!. . .
Freakin' military moron. That's the difference between great generals and wannabe generals -- the wannabes jabber all the time about what they're gonna to do. The great ones leave it to others to talk about what happened.

But what the hell. . . all the good generals were purged in the 21st century's Tukhachevsky-inspired Pentagon purge. Had they not been forced out, we might not have forced ourselves into the disastrous situation we find ourselves in today.

Freakin' ShrubCo morons.

12. Does Zarqawi really exist?
Many have speculated that his existence is just a ruse....if they imply that we can eliminate the insurgency by capturing one (made up)man, maybe it won't occur to the masses that this problem is so vast and out of control that there is no way to fix it.

15. Hangin' with Jimmy Hoffa, Elvis and DB Cooper
no doubt. And they're all sitting on a huge stash of chemical and biological weapons.

One of the many things that really, seriously ticks me off about the institutional press is that they never seem to remember that Zarqawi's location was pinpointed before the war — Colin Powell even marked it on a map with a little X during his UN presentation — and we didn't take out his mountain hideaway until after the invasion began. Assuming Zarqawi actually exists and is alive, Rumsfeld et al are responsible for every single one of the deaths Zarqawi has caused during the past two years. Within the larger framework of their responsibility for all the deaths in this war, of course, but that incident particularly rankles me.

22. Hey General ... you don't know shit!
If you did and if you were serious about catching him, you would keep your mouth shut and simply go get him!

BushCo is ridiculous! They claim they can't reveal their plans for a withdrawl from Iraq because the insurgents would know when we were leaving and they'd plan to launch major attacks immediately after we left. But ... BushCo sees no problem with making a worldwide announcement saying that we know the whereabouts of Zarqawi (and Bin Laden). Apparently, the possibility of the either man moving to another location before we arrive is not something the administration has considered. :eyes:

They may, or may not know where to find Osama, or one of Zarqawi's many incarnations, but at least they know this, for sure...

"We know what we're doing in our efforts how to get him," he said.

Now, don't we all feel better? They at least know, or think they do, what THEY are doing. Oh...wait...now I'm really scared!
