Zarqawi: US lied about contact

Dubai - The group led by al-Qaeda's Iraq chief warned on Sunday militants against contacts with the "enemies of God" and dismissed as lies revelations that US officials had been in contact with insurgents in Iraq.

"We are warning anyone who meets the Jewish, the Crusaders and their agents," according to an Internet statement attributed to Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's Al-Qaeda Organisation in the Land of Two Rivers.

"We have faith in our brother mujahedeen that they will not be fooled by such lies," according to the statement, whose authenticity could not be verified.

US secretary of defence Donald Rumsfeld earlier confirmed a British newspaper report that US officials had contacted insurgents in a bid to stem the violence plaguing Iraq but insisted such overtures were commonplace.

10. I posted yesterday that only al-Zarqawi, the Supreme Al Qaeda Commander...

of Middle East operations, is allowed to hold any kinds of talks. Anyone claiming to meet with the US is a fraud.

However, I don't think the mythical al-Zarqawi is a negotiating type of guy. It would ruin his reputation of being a heartless head chopper.
