Blair admits G8 climate deal 'very difficult'
Mon Jun 27, 2005 11:18 AM ET

By Mike Peacock
LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's Tony Blair vowed on Monday to press for agreement among world powers to tackle the causes of climate change but admitted he was a long way from achieving it.

The prime minister will host a summit of leaders from the Group of Eight nations in Gleneagles, Scotland, next week. African poverty and global warming top his agenda.

"I think on Africa there is a real sense of coming together. Climate change is obviously very difficult," Blair told a news conference in his Downing Street residence. "It is incredibly important that we do get some clear agreement that we need to move to a low-carbon economy, that we need to curb greenhouse gas emissions and we need to do so urgently," he said.

"It's my own view about that. We will wait to see whether we can get an agreement or not."

....

A leaked draft of a final statement for the G8 summit underscored a gulf between President Bush and Blair about the extent of the problem.

3. China is a huge polluter and why it isn't part of the G8
or in these discussions is beyond me. We know why the US isn't interested in global warming...Bush said it isn't happening so it must be true.

4. what's going to be "difficult" is surviving climate change
Doing something about it is as easy or as hard as we choose to make it.

6. Oh just let England plunge into a mini ice age! That would boost the
US economy by removing one of our competitors!:sarcasm:
When is Blair going to get it through his thick skull that Bush doesn't give a damn about what happens to him or England or Europe. Reread PNAC for the bottom line: Any concentration of power anywhere in the world is a threat to the United States. I believe that these idiots are quite capable of it intentionally manipulating the climate, or failing to correct practices they know will devastate others. I am sure that this is part of their geopolitical strategy. Current climate predictions indicate that Europe will suffer more from global warming than the United States. Remember the Pentagon report on global warming and their predictions about the chaos that will be coming? Don't think for one moment that this is not part of the equation.
Tony Blair, you are retarded even for a poodle! You can see the handwriting on the wall about the future for England with global warming, the shutdown of the North Atlantic currents and the coming many ice age for England. When are you going to realize that George Bush is not your friend!
