A New Law Dividing Iraq into 28 Electoral Districts
Hussein Azzab, member of the legal committee in the Iraqi National Assembly (Parliament), confirmed that the committee has submitted a project for amending the elections' law, for the purpose of finding work strategies, which are different from the previous elections' law that was prepared during the regime of the former American governor of Iraq Paul Bremer.

Azzab criticized the former elections' law as it considers Iraq as one electoral district, and the closed slate method, which cannot be changed. He pointed out that the new law divides Iraq into 28 electoral districts. The quota of seats in the national assembly for each district is specified on basis of the population size of the province.
