6/28/05: U.S. Marines launch major operation in west Iraq
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L28309009.htm

BAGHDAD, June 28 (Reuters) - U.S. Marines launched a major operation in western Iraq on Tuesday, dispatching 1,000 troops against suspected insurgents in the western Euphrates river valley.

"Operation Saif (Sword) began early this morning to root out terrorists and foreign fighters living along the Euphrates River between the cities of Haditha and Hit," the Marines said in a statement.

<snip>

Earlier this month they staged Operation Spear against militants in the border town of Karabila.

Marines said they killed dozens of insurgents in that operation, but they also destroyed much of the town of 60,000 with air strikes and street-to-street battles before abandoning it at the end of the five-day operation.

Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans, major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.

The Marines and coalition officials say they doubt many civilians have been killed in Fallujah and promise that their rules of engagement limit civilian casualties. "My solution is change the channel," Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt said earlier this week, after being asked about TV images of dead Iraqi civilians.

2. Wonder if any one at DOD has ever heard of Tito?
Been years since I read about him but if I recall he held down part of one of Hitler's armies with guerrillas then used them to take power and held up Stalin for his own type of Govt. Tito I think was his AKA

3. A few questions?
What does success in Iraq mean?

What does a free Iraq mean?

What does a democratic Iraq mean?

How does the BA determine if he and his buddies are winning?

Is the economy so bad that kids join the military to fight for Bush?

Does Bush purposely drive the economy to the ground to attract cannon fodder?

How does one determine who an insurgent is?

How many people have been killed in Iraq? Americans and others?

How many injuries? American and others?

How many people killed and/or maimed by Saddam?

Why is the price of oil going through the roof?

Why are so many in America stupid?

4. Welcome to DU wake.up.america!
Great questions.

The BFEE (Bush Family Evil Empire) does appear to make every wrong decision (wrong for this country, wrong for the world, right for their cronies).

If you apply that logic to you questions, I believe you might have some answers.

15. "How does one determine who an insurgent is?"
Send Ami troops to kick in the door.

Trash the home. Abscond with all valuables.

Terrorize the children.

Disrespect the women.

Drag males over 10 years old out of the home.

Detain and brutalize them somewhere.

Then announce that they are ALL "insurgents."

So einfach ist das.

7. This is always the only solution that Bu$hCo offers
Step up the attacks, step up the violence, step up the bombing, step up the killing. They seem to know no other way to solve their problems. Yet they continue to make the situation worse rather then better. Of course, this is exactly what they want, more death and destruction. They will not be satisfied until they destroy the whole country.

9. Forcast
terrorists and foreign fighters living along the Euphrates River between the cities of Haditha and Hit = area of operation

we have operation, then:

1. We see less fighters in the area
2. We create more people who want to fight us
3. We move out and the anti American fighters move back in
and are welcomed by the locals.

In the end we die, they die, money is spent, and we are in a deeper hole.

Move in, fight for a week, run the insurgents out of town, pull back, rinse, repeat.
