UN troops storm Haiti shanty town (BBC)

UN troops storm Haiti shanty town

The UN is sending more troops to violence-stricken Haiti
UN peacekeepers in Haiti have stormed a slum in the capital, Port-au-Prince, killing armed gang members loyal to the country's ousted president.
At least two men were killed during several hours of gunfights between the 350 peacekeepers and armed men.

A powerful gang leader and supporter of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide was reported to be among the dead.

The raid of the Cite Soleil shanty town, on the edge of the island, was the second slum offensive in two weeks

2. Because they act like gang members.
"Last week, UN peacekeepers stormed the slum of Bel Air, shooting dead six suspected gang members and freeing a kidnapped Red Cross worker who was being held there."

It's awfully difficult to tell the bad guys from the bad guys sometimes.

Just because they support someone that was elected doesn't mean they're not thugs.

3. Yes, lots of DU'ers have been thinking about Haiti since before the
overthrow of the people's elected candidate who was returned to his position by the American President Bill Clinton, who surely did exactly the right thing after the right-wing bastards in this country had him removed in the first place.

There's a wonderful DU'er here of Haitian origin who would no doubt be of great help to you in learning the difference between the good and the criminal assassins who lived freely in the U.S. prior to being brought back to terrorize Haiti after Bush stole the White House.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The racist Bush junta (together with the Uncle Tom and Aunt Jemima) overthrew Haiti's legally elected democratic government because he feared Aristide and the fact that he never stopped speaking the truth to power. These three raving fascist murderers locked arms with the Ton Ton Macoute, Haiti's terror death and rape squad, and the Nazi republicans to pull off this murderous coup. Our lapdog corporate media helped. Let us not forget this treasonous genocide when racing up crimes with which to execute them all in the near future.
Haiti after the Press Went Home
There was another important July birthday that passed in our country without public notice. But no so in Haiti, where thousands of people took to the streets bearing placards carrying the words - "Bonne Féte President Titid" - Happy Birthday President Titid.
The birthday demonstrators also demanded the return of Titid - President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, an honoured guest in our country. Titid, "little Aristide", is the affectionate Creole nickname given to President Aristide by the poor of his country. He quietly celebrated his 51st birthday in our country on July 15.
Where our people did not join him in these celebrations because they did not know it was his birthday, the people of Haiti did not forget. But they could not join him because circumstances had taken him and his family far away from his beloved motherland.
On July 15, CNN reported that, "Aristide supporters, singing 'happy birthday', marched with empty plates and spoons to show they were hungry.
"If Aristide was here, we would be celebrating with him and eat with him at the national palace on his birthday today," said Michele Sanon, a resident of the Cité Soleil slum."
