Taliban again say holding missing U.S. commando
The Taliban reiterated on Thursday that they were holding a U.S. commando missing in eastern Afghanistan for more than a week and vowed to kill him, but the U.S. military said it had no information to support the claim. Taliban spokesman Abdul Latif Hakimi said the guerrillas did not need to provide evidence that they were holding the man.

The U.S. military says a four-man team of elite Navy SEAL commandos went missing during a clash with insurgents in Kunar province on June 28. It says two were found dead on Monday, while another has been rescued, but the fourth remains unaccounted for.

U.S. military spokeswoman Lieutenant Cindy Moore said a big search operation for the missing man was underway. "We are aggressively searching for him...We don't have anything to support that," she said of the Taliban claim.

Hakimi first said last week video of a captured U.S. soldier would be provided to news organisations and photographs posted on a Taliban Web site -- www.alemarah.com -- but neither appears to have happened. The site appeared blocked on Thursday.

Internet message. I've never seen it ever. If you change the name by one character I get:

"Safari can’t open the page “http://www.aledsdmarah.com/” because it can’t find the server “www.aledsdmarah.com”."

It's still listed in google;

alemarah@alemarah.com comes up in google at this site;

this one is still up with htm page on alemarah;
http://www.n3am.com/alemarah.htm (All I can tell on this page is that they haven't filed their 1040 Income Taxes yet.)

ps. I did get this website a last week; alemarah.com

I don't see why we don't leave this site up. It should be a way to track the bad guys. See which countries, cities they're in, home addresses, computer ids...

3. He's not a soldier, he's a Frogman
A US Navy Seal, the best trained, smartest and toughest that the US military has.

If theres any way a man could survive this, he will.

I hope he does.

Taliban can't hold our soldiers as POW's because that forces us to think about how we torture the POW's we are holding. And we certainly don't want to do that. So, no Mr. Taliban you cannot be holding any of our soldiers as prisoner, and thats the end of that.

14. They can't hold them as POWs because they're not signatories
to the conventions that establish rights of POWs. The uniform or lack of uniform doesn't matter.

They haven't bothered to keep their captives in good shape or alive until now, before or after the establishment of Guantanamo, so why should they change. Their present policies were implemented before Guantanamo was set up, or even before 9/11, so I can't fall for the mutliple fallacies needed to justify their actions by our wrongdoing.

The law that they follow doesn't require POW-style treatment for those they capture, but requires that their soldiers when captured be treated excellently. I don't even think there's provision for holding an enemy any longer than deciding how to deal with him--ransom or death.

11. Unrelated
according to Al Jazeera , a Zarqawi related website confirmed executing the egyptian envoy .This is quite the troublesome deed as it undermines the interaction of the Iraqi government with neigbouring nations .

However there seems to be more to the case than just another kidnapping .Yesterday in a highly unussual statement , a spokesman said he had ventured into the west of the city alone .Which was an unwise thing to do come securitywise .He said this after pointing out that diplomats have been know to build contacts with insurgency movements .Thereby rendering their secure environment somewhat less so

Again proves there's always possibly more to a story .
