Focus on the Family: "Schumer must Withdraw from Confirmation Process"
Statement released today....

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/usnw/20050707/pl_usnw/focus_on_the_family_action__schumer_must_withdraw_from_high_court_confirmation_process307_xml

Focus on the Family Action: Schumer Must Withdraw from High Court Confirmation Process
----------------------------
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 7 /U.S. Newswire/ -- New York Democratic Sen. Charles Schumer (news, bio, voting record) should bow out of the confirmation process for seating Sandra Day O'Connor's replacement on the U.S. Supreme Court because he has already acknowledged he won't give any likely nominee a fair hearing, Focus on the Family Action Vice President of Government and Public Policy Tom Minnery said today.

Schumer, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, was quoted in news reports in recent days as promising to "go to war" over President Bush's nominee to replace O'Connor, no matter who it is.

"Sen. Schumer went so far as to admit he's not concerned about the judicial backgrounds or qualifications of the man or woman the president ultimately selects," Minnery explained. "For him to say 'It's not about an individual judge' but about 'the overall makeup of the court' makes it clear his only interest is in obstructing any nominee who doesn't subscribe to his brand of judicial activism."

Schumer also implied that the filibuster compromise worked out among 14 moderate senators of both parties to allow confirmation of some of Bush's appellate court nominees would have little bearing on whether filibusters will be launched against a Supreme Court nominee.

Complete statement here: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/usnw/20050707/pl_usnw/focus_on_the_family_action__schumer_must_withdraw_from_high_court_confirmation_process307_xml

in my opinion.

Hey FOF you don't get to tell any elected official shit!

Honestly these people along with Christian Collation are dangerous. They preach hate, intolerance and create radical religious extremism. Breeding ground for terror against non Christians and the Constitution.

22. What's wrong with the Christian Science Monitor?
Although it's not perfect, I find the CSM one of the more credible, reliable, and unbiased news sources out there. Although the Monitor is published by The Christian Science Publishing Society, it is strictly non-denominational in content and appeals to readers of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds for its objective coverage of news and events in the US and around the world, something other news sources like Faux fail to do.

41. LOL, and I thought your view on the high turn-over rate was...
going to be about slave working conditions or something..

I question if any reporters are even Christan Scientists.

FWIW, I grew up under the influences of a CS enviroment and we utilized all modern medical advantages. I was taught that faith could stave off illness on the onset, but we were also people of reason.

It wouldn't take much for it to bash liberals either. Nothing against Christianity (too much) but I don't trust a religious publication that could hire a fundie that would change it's views to help the fundie insurgency.

"the court' makes it clear his only interest is in obstructing any nominee who doesn't subscribe to his brand of judicial activism."

FOF....I think I like that better than Focus. :)

And if anyone has seen their building you may agree that it may be one of the biggest monuments to one man's vanity and self importance in Colorado. Actually it is two buildings thoughtfully placed across the highway from the Air Force Academy and can be viewed from the road on its' lofty hilltop perch. I think the money could have been better spent.

"quoted in news reports"

... and, these news reports are?????

Tabloid Drudge, give us the name of the person, the exact quote of the Amtrak passenger who allegedly overheard Sen. Schumer, the day, the time, who, what, where, how, which, when, etc. -- then, we'll talk.

Drudge gets his action item and plays his role ... the press release is fed to U.S. Newswire, a division of Medialink Worldwide
http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=82939&p=irol-IRHome

... Yahoo runs with a press release as 'news' ... feeds MSNBC, AOL and others likely to do the same ...

Fraudulent Journalism is a threat to our national security.

It's good to know someone in our country is worried about our future. Obviously, it's not Dobson...he's just sitting in *'s pocket, waiting to nudge his agenda in. Who's to say that * even cares who gets in, as long as they think the way that he does, or if they're a "close friend." (And he does plenty for his close friends...watch him go and pardon Rove in 3 years.) Just look at his track record, that kind of says it all.

72. I think Schumer should start yelling anti-semitism at Focus on the Family
and remind them the founding fathers said nothing about a theocracy
in this country...nor that they were wacked out evangelist xians nor
that Focus on the Family's brand of loony xianity should be the religion of ANY land.

74. How about we send a letter dismissing Dobson
Asking him to step down as a mouth piece of evil. As the old saying goes you can't serve two gods. Dobson pretends to be good while all the while trying to control the Christian community through misinformation (lies). Evil Freak. :freak:
