London-like attack not expected in US-Officials... |

This was the headline in Reuters. What I want to know is who has the crystal ball? http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&e=3&u=/nm/20050707/ts_nm/security_usa_dcpeace.

I mean, I was worried, living here in NYC. What could I have been thinking? Our soothsayers have all that information and would keep us informed. Just like 9/11. What a bunch of crap!!!!

of the BFEE, how the hell would anybody know anything? And if they really don't expect a "London-like attack", and if we aren't that likely to get blown up on a bus or a subway, can we just put away the stupid Terra Lerts and deep-six the PATRIOT Act and all the other fear-based programs intended to keep the sheeple cowed and dependent on Big Daddy George? Or are they expecting some OTHER kind of terrorist attack?
Idiots.

I apologize for my sick attempt at humor but it was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the headline.
Remember Condi said no one ever expected anyone to fly a plane into a building but I clearly remember reading that happen in a Clancy novel years before.
I would hope that our leaders expect the unexpected! Sheesh, that's why they hire smart people, right?

32. Read the fine print: London-like attack not expected in US . . . |
|
Worse maybe, but not the London-style. New Yorkers had a jittery commute this morning, and the mood was similar to what one has when someone says, Whatever you do, don't think of white elephants, and of course all you can think of is white elephants after that.
Which will come first: the second shoe to drop from terrorists, or a radical change in our governments and their foreign policy? I know at least two cities with captive audiences awaiting the answer.

35. Absolutely. The bombings are a reaction to UK/US actions, not philosophies |
|
Don't dare say that to the punditocracy, though. They have to uphold the spin of Bush and Blair. Until both the British and American publics change their governments from the top down, hate will rule rather than reason and we can expect acts like what happened in London, NY, and DC--and what is happening in the ME--to continue. That's good news for the likes of Bush and Blair, the Carlyle Group and Halliburton and all the other war profiteers, but it's horrible news for the human race.

The website's responsibility claim doesn't pass casual inspection. Specifically, the website uses wording atypical of jihadists and it's also more typical (and vastly more verifiable) for responsibility claims to appear as audio or video recordings of spoken statements. Furthermore, while the UK may merit an occasional mention from some jihadists, Denmark and Italy are unusual to bring up, and it's also atypical to leave out some direct insult or mention of the US or Israel or both.

42. True. It can also be a setup made to look as if Islamic terrorists did it |
|
Blair and Bush, and their governments, are not exactly popular among their people, and there are always groups around to do the dirty work and let them play the role of resolute leaders. I'm not suggesting total complicity; that wouldn't be necessary. Only the top people need know about a plot and do nothing to stop it, and then let the rest happen.
Given what has happened over the past four years, total cynicism is sadly in order.
