Greenville, SC - US Senator Lindsey Graham has told the White House that South Carolina native William Wilkins would be a good fit for the US Supreme Court. Graham says Wilkins, chief of the US Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, would be a good fit to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

Graham says President Bush's chief strategist, Karl Rove, asked him earlier this week if there was someone who wasn't already being considering that Graham thought should be thrown into the mix.

Wilkins says he is honored that Graham would say that but was unaware of Graham's comments.

Graham says he doesn't know if the 63-year-old from Greenville is a serious candidate. But Graham says Wilkins is a known jurist who fits in the category of a solid conservative.
