HoustonCronicle: Embattled leader quits Texas Lottery
Embattled leader quits Texas Lottery
By LISA FALKENBERG
July 9, 2005, 2:31AM

AUSTIN - Reagan Greer, who vowed a "new day" at the Texas Lottery when he took the helm as executive director in 2003, resigned late Friday in a swirl of controversy similar to those that took down his predecessors.

Greer submitted his resignation, effective immediately, just two weeks after he admitted approving inflated Texas Lotto jackpot estimates.

"In recent days it has become clear that intense, ongoing efforts to restore Texans' confidence in the Lottery can best be advanced through a change of leadership so that the successes achieved during my tenure with the Commission remain on track," Greer wrote in his letter of resignation to Commission Chairman Tom Clowe.

1. Good.
We need someone we can trust in charge of the Texas Lottery. That's my retirement plan.

2. Bunch of thieves from the start.
The initial director was a former county judge from my hometown, Odessa. That's all you need to know.
