Bush won't announce Supreme pick until end of July
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 05:47 PM by rawstory
RAW STORY

President Bush is scheduled to meet with senators from both parties on Tuesday, but Republican officials said they do not expect him to choose a nominee until the last week of July, the Washington Post's Mike Allen reports in Monday editions, RAW STORY has learned.

Allen indicates that officials are saying Chief Justice William Rehnquist doesn't plan to retire soon. "Top officials said they had no hard evidence Rehnquist plans such an announcement, and a key Republican senator even said he doubts it is true," he writes. Excerpts follow.

Sen. Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) said yesterday that Democrats "will not roll over" for an extreme nominee for the Supreme Court, and White House officials continued the process of consulting what they said will eventually be dozens of senators from both parties about who President Bush should pick.

Both parties used the weekend as a reprieve to hone their messages ahead of what they believe could be a statement Monday from Chief Justice William Rehnquist that he will retire.

6. I was thinking they would hold off on the announcement so they
could throw it out there if/when the news gets tough/embarrassing regarding Rove. They will have something in the hat to pull out as an emergency diversion of the news.

7. New here, aren't you?
Uh, NO, we wouldn't, actually - but you'd already know that if you'd spend the time to listen to any of our past objections, don't you!

Name one position that "the left" has that is unreasonable or just for the fun of it?

Just one!

Enjoy your short stay here, tho!

Maybe your small pea-brained mind will actually LEARN something for a change instead of spouting right-wing crap like that!
