ASPEN, Colo. - Friends and family of gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson are preparing to pepper the sky with the late writer’s ashes.

His cremated remains will be shot into the air Aug. 20 from a cannon installed on a 150-foot-high tower behind his home in Woody Creek....Johnny Depp, a close friend of Thompson’s, has hired a Beverly Hills, Calif., events planner to oversee the event, which will be closed to the public.

1. I Hope They Do a Documentary of the Party
I would love to see that. Will probably be an amazing cast of characters, too.

3. Perfect would be if he was still alive.
Seriously, how are we supposed to carry on now?

4. With great contempt for Republicans and large amounts of drugs
is how we carry on. But seriously - by being strong individuals who value true freedom and fight "the fear" is probably the best way to respect Hunter's values and what he stood for. I for one plan not to disappoint him. Hunter is a goddamn American hero if ever I saw one - and while he will be missed, he has shown us the truth and now it's up to us to act on it. Mahalo.

7. Perhaps you shouldn't
I mean, now the Hunter S. Thompson is gone, what else do you have to live for?
