Pakistan sees major train crash

There are fears of many casualties after a major train collision in southern Pakistan, officials say.

(snip)

Officials say an express train ran into the rear of another express which had broken down at a station near Ghotki, about 600km (370 miles) north-east of the city of Karachi.

A third express train travelling in the opposite direction is then said to have ploughed into several derailed carriages scattered on several tracks.

"We fear that there could be many casualties," Mr Aziz said.

Edit: headline changed

9. It appears not
Other reports say one train had broken down, and the driver of another misread the signals and didn't stop. To make matters worse, a train coming the other way then hit the wreckage.

Horrible.
