US, Canada oil companies mull Chinese rigs, crews

HOUSTON, July 13 (Reuters) - After one major North American energy producer toyed with the idea of bringing in Chinese land rigs and crews to drill for U.S. natural gas, the novel concept has generated buzz within the industry.

Canadian major EnCana Corp. <ECA.TO> has decided not to use Chinese-run equipment at Piceance Basin in western Colorado, spokesman Alan Boras said on Wednesday.

"I don't think (company officials) spent much time on it," Boras said.

But Chinese drillers already are looking beyond EnCana.

1. No since hiring Americans.
Chinese laborers only take jobs Americans don't want to do anyway, like car manufacturing and oil drilling.

4. There's plenty of Canadians who need work
and Canadian equipment standing idle.

I know, I drive past it every day.
