Vets to sue to get documents on (VA) hospital cutback (ACLU)
http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05194/537136.stm

The American Civil Liberties Union announced it has filed a suit against the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, alleging the VA refuses to release records about hospital closings unless it is paid $17,000 in fees.

The ACLU, which filed the suit on behalf of area veterans, said the VA is violating the federal Freedom of Information Act. A news conference was planned today to discuss the lawsuit.

Valerie Cortazzo, a veteran who receives service-connected disability benefits and an official of the Coalition of Veterans Advocates, said the suit challenges planned cutbacks in VA medical services here.

"... we think that at this crucial time, when there are hundreds of soldiers returning from overseas and needing care, the VA is leaving veterans behind," she said in a news release.

1. Bush tried to support the troops by cutting a almost a $ billion ...
from Veterans Affairs next year. But Congress got it back up to 2005 levels. Bush really is backing up the troops, isn't he? The murderer sends them into a bloody quagmire and then WON'T PAY FOR THE HOSPITALS TO FIX UP THE INJURED !!

2. Older veterans also get a bum deal.
I have a friend (Vietnam vet) who is home-bound, has various neurological problems, including recurring tumors. The VA has told him that it has done all that it will for him and will see him no more.

3. 1O9 Trillion is US wealth, so obviously we cant afford it
http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/z1/current/accessible/l5.htm

see bottom line there.

top tax rate , truman, creating prosperity then, was 91%.
It kept the producing middle class housed and educated.

Now, a pathetic 35% top tax and the producing middle class is harried, overworked.

reaganomics is a flop .. toss it.

wages lower than when it began.. adjusted for inflation.

toss reaganomics. 25 years is long enough for an experiment with it. It is a flop. Toss reaganomics.

No one really believed in it anyway. Just an excuse to cut the top tax rate.

toss reaganomics.
