US demands Syria stop support to Islamic Jihad

The United States demanded on Wednesday Syria stop its support to the radical Islamic Jihad as well as those radical groups headquartered in Syria.

"The connection between Syria and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad is well known," State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said at a briefing.

"Syria should immediately stop letting its territory be used for insurgent activity and for activities which frustrate the aspirations of the Lebanese, Iraqi and Palestinian people," Casey said.

Moreover, the United States has urged Syria to safeguard its border with Iraq to prevent insurgents from crossing into Iraq to fight against the US-led coalition there. Damascus has rebutted the criticism.

3. There will always be insurgents pouring in from adjacent countries.
This logic will eventually have us at war with the entire world. I think Bush had best throttle back on his rhetoric....his political capital is in deficit territory.

8. Breaking news!
The WH said it has credible evidence that Syria was actually the leak in the Plame case. It also said that it was the Syrians that were behind the recent London bombings and has documents to prove it. When asked if an invasion of Syria was in the plans, WH spokesman Scott McLellan said "all options are open." Details to follow soon.

If the US doesnt want to obey the rules it has no right demanding that others do.
