Driver in Smart murder granted parole

CONCORD, N.H. — Vance Lattime Jr., the getaway driver in New Hampshire´s notorious Pamela Smart murder case, was granted parole on Thursday and could be freed within 30 days.

Lattime was 17 in 1990 when he agreed to help Smart murder her husband, Gregory Smart. Lattime supplied the getaway car and the murder weapon.

He has served 15 years of an 18-year-to-life sentence for accomplice to second-degree murder, and has been incarcerated at the Maine State Prison. He was granted a three-year sentence reduction in May, making him eligible for parole.

Pam should stay in jail for a very long time, but the kids she manipulated into doing her dirty work deserve a second chance.
