4. The Canadian military (and media) has been preparing us for casualties
A largish group is heading for Kandahar and we keep being told to be psychologically prepared for lots of military deaths - it is a classic propaganda rollout. Our latest head general seems to be a Rummy clone, talking about "killing scumbags", and using strange rhetorical question circumulations.

So, it seems as if Afghanistan is expected to get rather hot over the next few months. We can all expect many more stories like this one, I fear.

5. "Wounded"
Not dead. Just wounded. Arm blown off? Minor flesh wound? Mortally wounded? Soon to die in Germany and therefore not eligible as a statistic? Wounded: The way the press reports what the military doles out...I can only imagine what wounded means, over and over again.

14. I don't understand
do you mean that the soldier who expires stateside after being wounded in Iraq is part of the statistics. I don't think so right? The soldiers who expire in Landstuhl (sp?) I could guess they are counted. But I am assuming. Any further info/links on this topic?

15. Yes I mean the soldier who expires stateside after being wounded in Iraq
is part of the statistics.

As a member of the gang at the ICCC (Iraq Coalition Casualty Count), that's exactly the deaths I look for to make sure they are counted.

The following are US and UK/"coalition" troops who were ill or wounded in Iraq, and died outside Iraq, including stateside...they're all counted. You can also search troop deaths by stateside hospital;

Go to; http://www.icasualties.org/oif /

At the top, click on "Fatality Details"

On the details page, at the bottom far right, set filter to "country of death" and choose "USA".

At the bottom far left, click on "set filter".

16. OK then. Thank You
I know that this subject causes some controversy as I tried to have the question answered elsewhere. There seem to be quite a lot of people who had a similiar mistaken idea as myself about the count. Not sure why though considering the facts as you present them.

17. You're welcome.
If it were up to bush, and if he could get away with hiding US deaths, I'm sure he would. He's a total MFer, ain't no doubt there.

But it isn't and he couldn't. And there are a lot of us watching like hawks for any such attempts...

7. Looks like Afghanistan is going the way of Iraq
One thing the Pentagon is not saying is that the insurgency in Afghanistan, which had been confined to the Taliban and Al-Qaeda remnants, has expanded to other Pashtuns that oppose the US occupation and the puppet Karzai regime.

This is also a good time to remind our fellow DUers of recent incidents of US bombing of Afghan villages, the latest resulting in 17 dead civilians, including children. The Karzai regime had to complain publicly about the loss in civilian lives to counter the public outrage.

Afghanistan is going the tubes fast!

13. Sing along: "Everything is beautiful, in its own way..."
No problem there; it's the model of success.
