White House Mum on Disclosure in CIA Leak

WASHINGTON - The White House is maintaining silence over the leak of a CIA officer's identity despite a journalist's disclosure that Vice President Dick Cheney's top aide was a source for a story about the intelligence agent.

A role for Cheney chief of staff Lewis Libby is among details revealed Sunday by Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper, who wrote a first-person account in this week's issue.

....

On Sunday, Bush administration spokesman David Almacy declined to comment about Libby, citing an independent counsel's ongoing investigation of the case.

....

"There's no evidence that (Rove has) done anything criminally wrong," Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said on CBS. He said the American people are taking the controversy "for what it is _ politics."

1. "No evidence done anything criminally wrong"
Nothing criminal in his acts...even the Bush defenders have to set the bar so low, it's an embarrassment to point out that one doesn't have a two year grand jury investigation if there is NO evidence of a crime, as if Rove has to commit a crime before he can be taking off the public payroll.

3. Lindsey, the American people ARE taking the controversy for what it is.
Treason.

What a bind the Republicans have gotten themselves into with their lockstep mentality. They're having to defend traitors.

4. I expecially appreciated Cooper's statement
(in his print story) that when he met Bush in the oval office, Bush grinned and said, "I thought you'd be in jail be now."

Just a hail fellow well met, I suppose.

But Bush's bon hommie doesn't really translate so well when the cruel humor is used to imply a threat, or a hope, perhaps? Didn't Bush undetstand that Cooper wasn't "in it together" with the GOP and WH? Didn't he understand that there was a risk that eventually someone somewhere in the press would decide that truth and patriotism are more important than the president's desire to "own" the press? Now THAT'S what I call an ownership society, eh?

Perhaps Cooper should return to the WH and declare to Bush and Rove, "I'm surprised you're not in jail yet".

9. Don't go pinning any medals on Cooper.........
or any other media member for that matter. Cooper only told what he knew because of the threat of imprisonment. The only real hero in this whole stinking mess is Joe Wilson, who refused to be bullied by these petty thugs. Cooper was as gutless as the rest of the media.

5. Graham was involved in Clinton's
impeachment trial as a case "manager." How this pond scum, who participated in a politically motivated baseless impeachment over a President's private conduct, can with a straight face absolve Rove of wrongdoing, is beyond me. The hypocrisy of repukes is breathtaking.

8. So Graham speaks for the entire population....
of the United States? Is that an elected position, or was that a bush recess appointment?
Guess what, Lindsey? WE'RE NOT ALL BUYING THE REPUBLICAN BULLSHIT! The SLUGS are the ones playing politics here. They'd rather protect a treasonous White House Aide(s) that protect the United States of America from enemies FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC!
DU needs a big "F" "U" emoticon! Until then, :wtf:

10. The man has committed treason
and anyone who protects a traitor implicitly abets said traitor and thus commits treason themselves.

Simple. Logical. Irrefutable.
