Two more women accuse priest (Yo, Ricky)
Two more women have come forward to accuse a retired Center City priest of sexually abusing them when they were minors.

The women, who are sisters, say Msgr. Philip J. Dowling assaulted them decades ago when he was their family's parish priest at Corpus Christi Church in North Philadelphia.

Dowling, 76, the former pastor of St. Patrick Parish near Rittenhouse Square, was suspended in March after two other women - also sisters - told The Inquirer he had abused them for years, beginning in the 1960s when they were preteens.

In an interview, Dowling admitted he had "crossed the bound" by repeatedly touching one of the girls in an "inappropriate" sexual manner, but he denied abusing her sister, as both women allege.<snip>

4. I saw a great juxtaposition on Interstate 75 north of Knoxville
There is a huge (probably 100 ft tall) cross made out of a metal skin, right next door to a XXX superstore that is almost as large as a Walmart.

I am trying to figure out if people go to the XXX store first, then stop next door for salvation, or get their salvation, and then go browse the sex toys, videos, and hang out in the masturbation booths. It would be a hoot to know what the most popular items sold in the store are.

9. Enough of the Pittsburgh bashing...
You obviously haven't been here, otherwise you would know this is a great town.

I challenge you to come here, take in the view from Mt. Washington, shop for produce in the Strip, go to a show in the Cultural District, have a beer in Polish Hill, see the Mattress Factory and the Children's Museum on the North Side, go to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Oakland, walk through Schenley Park.

Then tell me this isn't a great place.

Philadelphians will have to defend themselves.

The Vatican has sought the intervention of the U.S. State Department to declare Pope Benedict XVI immune from a sexual abuse lawsuit filed here, according to court documents.

Vatican said Monday there was no investigation under way of allegations that the Mexican founder of a conservative religious order sexually abused seminarians

Vatican Reportedly Clears Priest
Vaca, a former priest, is one of at least eight men in Mexico and the United States who have accused the Rev. Marcial Maciel Degollado of molesting them when they were teenage seminary students in the 1940s, '50s and '60s.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/22/AR2005052200966.html?nav=rss_world/europe

Despite the horrific drumbeat of child molestation revelations, however, sensible Catholics hoping for a more transparent and less sexually repressed church shouldn't hold their breath. The new pope is not only a longtime leader of vicious church attacks on "evil" gays, he also has shamefully blamed the molestation scandal on the media.
