James Dobson favors Bush high court nominee

Dr. James Dobson says his Focus on the Family ministry strongly supports President Bush's nomination of Judge John Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In a news conference, Dobson said he doesn't know Roberts' personal views on abortion, but is confident that as justice he'll "interpret the Constitution as written and not dream it up."

The Focus on the Family chairman said the Supreme Court's modern tendency to discern unwritten rights in the Constitution has led to "judicial tyranny."

1. If Dobson is for it, I am against it!
Looks like the American Taliban are on the warpath to get the puke Roberts on SCOTUS.

2. Anything Dodson likes is pure poison to the saner part of society.
This guy is as radical as Osama and has one of the biggest hate groups in the USA. Piss on his focus on the family loveless fest.

3. Well, that confirms it: Roberts is against women
If SpongeDob supports him, that means he's been given personal assurances from high up that this guy will overturn Roe.

Count on it!

4. If this doesn't say it all, I give up.
He doesn't know Roberts' personal view on abortion?? Bullshit.

This is what they have hoping and planning for since the day Shrub was installed. There's NO way they would support this guy if they weren't 100% sure of him. Period.

...and probably slobbering on something else.

If the Bad Doctor is cook with the pick, then he has the inside scoop on what the man really believes. It looks like we may have another Scalia on our hands.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again - does anyone wish we had Gonzo now?

If they can just get Ted Kazinski and Eric Rudolph on board, there's no way that Roberts won't be confirmed!

in a case that goes against what Dobson and the rest of the fundie right expected, and see how their tune changes.

18. Hang on a sec...
OK, I know I'm probably going to get flamed for this, but...

I think there is a distinct possibility that, once again, Dobson has his head up his ass and doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

I'm not saying I think Roberts is a good choice. I don't. But when I hear people like Dobson and Christian Coalition president Roberta Combs saying that they're happy as pigs in shit because Roberts is "in the mold of Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas" - I'm sorry, but to me it just doesn't sound right. It sounds like wishful thinking, as translated through the "I drank the kool-aid" fanatical conservative myopia. There may be hints of that, and in the end they may turn out to be right, but I really don't think they have any deeper insight to this guy than anyone else does.

Now, maybe this is MY wishful thinking, but I can't help remembering Sandra Day O'Connor telling Reagun that she personally found abortion to be "abhorrent".

I guess all I'm saying is I wouldn't give a wooden nickel for the worth or accuracy of opinions of people like Dobson before this, so I'm not going to now....

22. I have no doubt that Rove reassured all the big time radical clerics
Before Cheney and Rove told Bush to pick him, I'd bet that Roberts signed his name in his own blood on a contract printed on human skin pledging that he would overturn Roe v. Wade. There's no way that these thugs would pick a justice that they weren't 110% convinced was in lockstep with the GOP / Talibornagain goals.

...Here's one on a Silver Platter.

If I were a Christian, Hearing James Dobson's filth would make me seriously consider beoming a Jew. Or Hindu. Or Muslim. Or Ba'hai. or Buddhist. Or Shintoist. Or Zoroastarian. Or Animist. Or Wiccan. Or (looking for suggestions here)...

23. These false prophets have added a new verse...
"Blessed are they who vote the right way and pass the right laws". They have totally lost the concept in the New Testament about how we are to love God and one another.

26. What is this "interpret" vs "dream it up" thing!?!?!
Seriously, when has the Supreme Court EVER "dreamed up" a ruling? Had they done so, wouldn't that be grounds for impeachment? And if they have done so, why weren't they impeached?

No, wait, don't tell me...it's all Bill Clinton and the Liberals' fault!

29. Am I the only one who doesn't believe...
that Dobson doesn't know Roberts' personal views on abortion. I'll believe that when the GOP elephant mascot gets up and flies to China.

But, let's see, Falwell & Dobson are behind Roberts so what do I read that to say...

God, please save us now!
