6. I have a theory about this:
1) No jurisdictional conflicts. In US, you have city, county, state, and FBI fighting over jurisdiction, they have their own databases and built up knowledge, and, sometimes for political reasons, one doesn't want the other to succeed. In the UK, there's one jurisdiction and everyone's on board to solve the crime.

2) The have all the resources of a wealthy nation, but not that many dangerous crimes that force police to perform triage. They can put all their resources to solving the few, truly dangerous crimes.

7. British intelligence has always put American intelligence to shame...
The Brits have historically had the best intelligence gathering systems in the business. They carried the US army through WW1 and WW2 and provided much of the Cold War intelligence. Their (suppressed) information regarding Iraq and WMDs was much more on target than what the Americans had.

They also have alot more practice in anti-terrorism after dealing with the IRA for 30 years, as opposed to the FBI and CIA, which still is relatively unexperienced in such matters.

8. Another reason...
Intelligence and law enforcement are more professional, less politicized, in the UK compared to the US...

They aren't totally non-political, but they are less political.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- A man has been arrested in connection with Thursday's attempted bomb attacks on London's transport system, police say.

Scotland Yard said Friday's arrest took place at an address in Stockwell, south London, as "part of the investigation into the incidents of July 21."

Police would not comment on whether the man was one of four shown in CCTV pictures of suspects released Friday.

The photos were released as part of a police appeal for information about the bomb suspects.
