Tom Tancredo Eyes White House Run

Associated Press Writer

DENVER (AP) - Tom Tancredo has been called a one-horse pony of a politician, a man out of step with his party, a bigot. The Republican congressman vehemently opposes illegal immigration, and he created an uproar last week when he talked about nuking Muslim holy sites.

No matter, Tancredo is pressing on and even hinting at a longshot presidential bid in 2008.

Tancredco has already visited New Hampshire and Iowa this year, and says he found a welcome audience among voters who are fed up with the nation's immigration policies, including proposals by President Bush.

``Unless I misread the political tea leaves, there is a great deal of support for what I say,'' Tancredo said

He's one of the first who called a spade a spade on the H-1B, which is labor arbitrage...

But, frankly still we're going to distance because we don't support
everything he does...

but he did do that when no one else would!

9. polls
80% of all Americans want something done about illegal immigration.

Democrats need to get on this issue. Right now they just tout the multinational corporate agenda.

(no I am not defending "blowing up Mecca", I'm pointing out a gapping hole by Democrats that is yet another area where they are screwing up).

BTW: Why would anyone defend illegal immigration? You need to be defending amnesty and so forth if that is what you believe but saying it's ok to just jump the border and enter into a country, setup shop or whatever....well, may I suggest you try that yourself in Canada or pretty much any country and see what they have to say about it.

The re-pubs need to learn to play nicely with others and not threaten various holy sites. People on their own get a tad pissed when threatened and fundies of all religions get very pissed when their holy sites are threatened!

I don't know if diebold was foul play or not. The problem is you can't trace it, and diebold's corporate leadership is openly pro-Bush. Don't pass the sniff test. Give us paper ballots!

41. for all intents and purposes
we did not. It may have been a marketing/PR problem (and a failure to overcome Republican prowess in this area), but Kerry was perceived as nothing more than the "not Bush" candidate, and that is not enough to win elections 99.9 percent of the time. Of course, in politics, perception is reality.

For the record, as we move toward electronic voting, I definitely support inclusion of some sort means of verification. But of course, paper ballots are certainly not infallible.

13. You know what really worries me?
A four-star ignoramus and bully like George W. Bush defiled and continues to defile 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, so we shouldn't assume anyone is too venal, ignorant, morally disgusting or extreme to get in there. We have too many fellow citizens who are willing to support the brainless, the incompetent, and the cruel.

And the national mood might be more open to demagoguery, especially if there are national security worries. So a clown like Tancredo could win. :puke: May it never happen, but still, there it is.

30. I would much prefer to hear some numbers on outsourcing, etc.,
from one of the progressives in corporate media. Oh, that's right...THERE AREN'T ANY!!!!

As to Dobbs sincerity, who knows? Perhaps his "role" is to become more and more strident to the point that people associate opposition to corporate globalization with fanatical RW extremism. It would be a laughable proposition but the gullible and uninformed might buy it. The corporate elite could even back a real nutjob like Tancredo (is he sincere?) and many voters would run screaming into the arms of some DLCer thereby creating a corporate win-win.

If you think the multi-nationals who run this planet aren't prepared to engage in every mind-fucking bit of black ops imaginable to create their corporate global wet-dream of slavery, you haven't been paying attention.

35. Tancredo & liberals
We have two problems.

1. Tancredo has said some really dumb shit, as in the recent one

2. Liberals do not get labor arbitrage and national security
and constantly pin it to the "race card".

I don't know how many times on the issue of illegal immigration
people lump it all together and I constantly point out argue for amnesty or whatever, but do you realize you're arguing for illegal immigration?

Legal != Illegal is an equation they just can't seem to compute.

In their brain "illegal immigration = racist white supremacist"
they cannot differentiate the issues or see the multinational agenda
behind unlimited movement of workers, erosion of worker rights and so forth.

Then, on the issue of illegal immigration, to make matters worse
there are true racists out there pounding on this issue and then we have Howard Dean, saying
any mention of it is "beating up on poor illegals, i.e. racist white supremist"....

so here we are and there is no common sense, objective analysis or rational tackling of this issue!

When they see Tancredo we get these posts instead of objection or debate over proposals and what it all really means.

Drives me nuts. By not thinking this is precisely how multinational corporations get their agenda through...it's the same tactic as use of abortion by Neo-cons.

... you need nut-jobs like him to get media coverage. At least enough to thoroughly expose him. The problem is with people who come across to the general public as "reasonable", while all the time hiding a dangerous agenda.
