Guardian - Hundreds mourn youngest victim (July 7)
Helen Carter
Saturday July 23, 2005
The Guardian

Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral yesterday of the Guardian employee David Foulkes, who was the youngest victim of the London terror bombs.

At least 300 people were at the church of St Anne in Lydgate, Oldham, Greater Manchester, to pay tribute to Mr Foulkes, 22, who was killed at Edgware Road tube station on July 7.

Mr Foulkes's coffin, which was covered with white flowers, was followed into the church by his parents, Janet and Graham, his sister Jill, and his girlfriend, Stephanie Reid.

Outside the church, flowers and tributes covered the ground. One, from Oldham Council of Mosques, read: "We offer our condolences, share your anguish and grief and we offer prayers. We are united against all those who seek to harm our peaceful way of life."

Another, from Oldham Interfaith Forum, said: "With you, we are saddened by the violence that destroyed innocent young and pray for peace in our world."

1. Thanks for posting this
I am so sick of people saying Muslims don't ever say anything against the bombings! They do, and all over the world-it just isn't reported on the shrill machines that pass for news outlets in this country.

2. That's why I no longer watch US broadcast news...
I get most of my news from BBC and the Guardian and the like; there's a difference between propaganda and information...so much for a free press, huh?

3. The "youngest victim" was 22 years old?
So, here we have yet another "terrorist" bombing with no children as victims? It'd be nice if the US Military were as fastidous in their bombing of (technically) innocent civilians.

4. "terrorist" ?
Fastidous ?

You think they planned their attacks to avoid children ? How on earth did they know the tube train they were getting into had no children in ?

There are schools and universities all over central London, its just plain luck that no children got killed.

And you don't think these were terrorist acts ? What sort of person are you ?
