Economy deals blow to Michigan kids
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 07:50 AM by Mari333
yes, its that bad here.

WASHINGTON -- Michigan's recent economic troubles have taken their toll on the well-being of its youngest citizens, the annual KIDS COUNT report released today indicates.

Some 400,000 Michigan children were living in poverty in 2003, about 50,000 more than in 2000 when the economic downturn took hold, according to the report, which tracks child well-being nationally.

2. But the economy is sound...........
it's growing at a nice pace. Unemployment is lower than it was during the Clinton years!

I just wrote a LTTE to my paper responding to some asshole that said we should all just shut up about the economy being bad. He provided the usual fake statistics of low unemployment etc. (even railed about Krugman's article about the "false positive" enonomy numbers)

Yeah, everything's peachy! :eyes: "Compassionate Conservatism" has been replaced by "head in the sandism".

3. yes and i would guess crime is up as well.
republicans love bad economies -- with this current batch willing to ruin the economy -- so they can run on ''welfare moms'' and ''law and order'' -- mind you they certainly don't want to fix the problem just bitch about it so they can get they narraw minded masses in an uproar -- then sit bck and reap the benefits.

ya know it reminds me of how they run the war on terror.

4. No suprise here.
Pro-life my keister. If all those Republicans were really pro-life, they'd do something about this other than whine that it's all the gays, single moms, Muslims, jet stream, and whatever else's fault.

7. That's true.
One good sign, though, is that even my Freeper dad likes Granholm. Everyone I've talked to realizes that she took over a horrible situation and is doing the best she can.
