Al-Zarqawi group said threatening to kill Lebanon's top Shi'is

Beirut, 27 July: A statement by the Al-Qa'idah Jund al-Sham has threatened to assassinate nine Shi'i political and religious figures in Lebanon.

The Shi'i Fatwa Centre in Tyre south Lebanon said it had received a statement by fax that the notorious Al-Qa'idah leader Abu-Mus'ab Zarqawi had set up many groups to assassinate top Shi'i leaders, including House Speaker Nabih Birri, Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Shi'i Council Shaykh Abd-al-Amir Qablan and Sayyid Husayn Fadhlallah of Hezbollah.
