U.S.: Iranian Cadre Training Hezbollah

Thursday July 28, 2005 7:16 PM

By BARRY SCHWEID

AP Diplomatic Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - A top State Department official informed Congress on
Thursday that Iranian cadre were training Hezbollah fighters in
Lebanon.

Assistant Secretary of State David Welch told the House International
Relations Committee the information was provided by "our own sources."

The State Department official reiterated the long-standing U.S.
determination that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization. The group
is known to operate with weapons provided by Iran that are channeled
to it through Syria, which borders Lebanon.

Asked by Rep. Howard Berman, D-Calif., whether Iranian cadre were
training Hezbollah in Lebanon, Welch replied, "Yes."

2. That's nice.
And it is none of our business. Say, are we training anybody overseas in military tactics? Are we supplying anyone with weapons?

4. The hypocrisy is so thick you can cut it with a knife.
The US has probably trained more terrorists than the rest of the world combined.

7. No shit? What are you going to do about it?
FWIW, I would bet on Hizbollah cadre training Iranians rather than the other way around.
