Let's all revel in the thought that Bush will be bent over a table with a doctor's finger in his butt on Saturday.

BETHESDA, Md. - President Bush, who has been spending hours riding his mountain bike — even in Europe — was getting his regular physical exam Saturday, seven months after his last one showed he'd put on a few extra pounds.

Bush traveled by motorcade from the White House to the National Naval Medical Center in nearby, Bethesda, Md. The 59-year-old commander in chief usually gets his annual physical during the summer, but the 2004 election campaign postponed his last one until Dec. 11, 2004.

"This is getting him back on his regular annual schedule," White House press secretary Scott McClellan said Friday.

Bush was supposed to be flown by helicopter, but hazy conditions forced him to make the trip by road instead. Bush waved at reporters and went into the medical center without speaking.

18. Are they covering up evidence of diminished mental capacity...
like they did with Reagan? Bush's involuntary tics and spasms as well as his frequent accidents (such as the one that injured a policeman during the G8 conference) seem to be indicative of a serious medical condition.

21. I wish the journalists would stop repeating this bit of horsecrap:
"but the 2004 election campaign postponed his last one until Dec. 11, 2004"

The fact is that after the second debate (or was it the third?) bush had been through such a floor-wiping by Kerry that he had to take the day off. He could have had his physical then. There were other days, too, that he spent "resting."

Little Boots is a wimp. And I still want to know what meds he's on.

President Bush Gets Annual Physical Exam

By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer
1 hour, 37 minutes ago

<snip>

Following his checkup, Bush planned to visit wounded troops at the hospital.

At his last physical, doctors found Bush in good health. But his weight had increased over 17 months from 194 pounds to 200 pounds. His body fat percentage increased to 18.25 percent from 14.5 percent.

<snip>

Aside from minor health ailments, doctors pronounced Bush in a "superior" fitness category — or the top fifth percentile — for men his age.

<snip>

Bush collided with the officer and fell during a bike ride on the grounds of a golf resort while attending an economic meeting in Gleneagles, Scotland, earlier this month. He suffered scrapes on his hands and arms that required bandages by the White House physician.

--------

Perhaps the extra pounds were added when he grew a soul... oh wait, that never happened.

Maybe he grew a brain... :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

YOu know that stop to see the troops is carefully orchestrated so only those who are still high on pain killers, unable to speak or who are still sipping the last of the kool-aid are there. The erst have lost their Veteran diability are are at home, suffering without medical care.

And seriously, a fall off his bike required the White House physican to apply band-aids. Ten bucks they have Sesame Street characters on them... oh, wait, Sesame Street is bad because PBS is a commie organization... for now.

How much longer with this clown?:rant:

37. Doctors: Bush Is in 'Pretty Good' Health
Doctors: Bush Is in 'Pretty Good' Health
By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer

Saturday, July 30, 2005

(07-30) 09:58 PDT Bethesda, Md. (AP) --

President Bush said Saturday that doctors pronounced him in "pretty good" health after his annual physical exam.

Bush, 59, told reporters that doctors would release a detailed medical report later Saturday from the morning-long checkup and "I think you'll find it's pretty good." His medical team issued no immediate statement about the president's health.

The commander in chief also visited with soldiers recuperating at the National Naval Medical Center in this Washington suburb. He said he spent time with "some braves Marines who have been wounded. It's a remarkable experience to meet with these incredibly courageous souls."

Before boarding the presidential helicopter for the short ride back to the White House, Bush said, "I'm feeling pretty good." He described himself as feeling "very good" after Marine One landed.

43. the incredible shrinking Bush?
Anybody else remember this? While he was campaigning in 2000, Bush told Pelosi (the filmmaker) that he was under 6' -- yet his PR people claimed he was taller. And now he is supposedly back to being 5'11" or something.

I know this seems trivial, but there is a kind of mental association in our culture, equating height with strength/dignity/maturity. And it may lead to self-fulfilling prophecies like "powerful politicians tend to be taller than average" (if enough people believe it, and factor it into their voting decisions, it comes true). Bush's campaign team, we've already seen, is quick to cash in on any apparent advantage, and I wouldn't be surprised if they put out "spin" on Bush's measurements, to boost him over the "magic number" of 6 feet. After all, they sure put a lot of focus on his supposed physical fitness (body mass index, heart rate, etc.) -- as if to imply that this necessarily means that he is mentally fit AND competent, as well. The reporters were fawning about how much he could bench-press, for months! (His supporters were quick to deride Clinton and Gore about their weight gain, and Kucinich about being shorter than some of the other contenders.)

Not saying that the physicians are necessarily fudging the stats, but given that there's now a political value to the information, there might be some pressure on them to "round" figures up or down, depending on how good they sound?
