Capehart: Democrats 'in denial' of GOP success

George Bush's back-to-back victories and other Republican success stories in West Virginia cannot be dismissed as "illusion," new GOP Chairman Rob Capehart said Thursday.

That was his way of countering a verbal broadside launched this week by state Democratic Chairman Nick Casey.

What's more, Capehart rose to the defense of state Sen. Russ Weeks, R-Raleigh, saying Democrats live in fear the Beckley resident will lead a GOP takeover of the Senate next year.

Casey blasted the Republicans for saying they wanted to pursue ways of diminishing the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court's eminent domain edict. The Charleston attorney portrayed the GOP as longtime friends of big corporations, suggesting they were living in an "illusionary world" by trying to paint themselves as allies of the average resident.

1. I don't really believe the DNC or DLC realize how insignificant
they make themselves when they have so many Democratic politicians siding with the Republican party on important Democratic issues. We know these Dems are sly enough to play both sides of the aisles, so why should we trust them with our money?

2. There's no denying their success
I just think it is an illusion much like our economy and sooner or later it is going to catch up with them. They can't honestly think abortion is going to keep them in power forever.

5. this is the same Nick Casey who works as a lobbyist
for the US Chamber of Commerce

hello, can we say hypocrite
Governor Joe Manchin to head the WV state party who is extremely anti-choice, basically endorsed the Republican candidate for governor back in 96 when he lost the primary to a pro-union, pro-choice woman

sorry Mr. Casey, the WV Democratic Party right now represents the average person as much as the WV Republican Party

there ain't much difference!

7. George Bush's visit to the Boy Scouts caused 300 to become sick.
Just as valid. Not that I blame criminals who want to shove it in our faces. I respect that kind of evil.

9. "Successful?" They can have their "success"
I want no part of credit or "success" for the disaster they have unleashed on this nation and the rest of the world.

Politics has descended below the level of major league sports.
