GOP courts consensus on border policy
Party hopes to mend its own rift while reconciling U.S. labor and security demands

WASHINGTON - White tablecloths, polished silverware and candlelight are the tools of a cunning suitor. But when found in a dining room in the House of Representatives, they signal high politics rather than romantic intentions.

The elegant atmosphere is what Rep. John Shadegg of Arizona, chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee, is using to help build agreement among his GOP colleagues on an issue where there is little: immigration reform.

"I want people to realize that there is more that holds us together than pulls us apart," he said.
(snip)

But it will take more than what Shadegg calls "unity dinners" to bridge the divisions that split Republicans when it comes to fixing what many see as a dangerously crippled immigration system.

1. white tablecloths? more like white hoods in this fascist dictatorship
I wouldn't be surprised if a number of these neofascists were Klansmen.

2. The opportunity of grabbing a gun and going out to catch people

who have been struggling across desert, mountains, water, through temperatures up to 115 degrees brings out the bullies, losers, idiots, and people who've been ignored in daily life, due to character and intelligence deficits.

Mentally stable people wouldn't consider it for a moment.

Found a quick grab from google about their connection to white supremicists (it takes so much talent and skill to be white, doesn't it?):

Mainstream news overlooks vigilante group's ties to white supremacists

According to a Southern Poverty Law Center report, on April 2, the Minuteman Project "held a protest across the street from the U.S. Border Patrol headquarters in Naco, Ariz. Prominent among the demonstrators were two men who confided that they were members of the Phoenix chapter of the National Alliance... the largest neo-Nazi group in America. One of the two, who sat in lawn chairs throughout, held a sign with arrows depicting invading armies of people from Mexico -- a sign identical to National Alliance billboards and pamphlets, except without the Alliance logo."

During the run-up to the demonstration, Shaun Walker, a National Alliance official told a reporter that they weren't "going to show up as a group and say, 'Hi, we're the National Alliance. But we have members ... that will participate."

"In fact," the SPLC reported, "National Alliance pamphlets were distributed in Tombstone and , this predominantly Hispanic community just two days before the Minuteman Project got going. 'Non-Whites are turning America into a Third World slum,' they read. 'They come for welfare or to take our jobs. Let's send them home now.'"

But despite the presence of known white supremacists, the mainstream media generally gave the Project a pass.
