Bill Clinton plans targeted initiatives

NEW YORK, Aug. 2 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton is planning a series of meetings for world leaders to concentrate on specific issues such as poverty and corruption.

Clinton said in an interview with Voice of America he got the idea for the Clinton Global Initiative meeting from Davos, where the World Economic Forum meets each year in Switzerland.

....

Poverty, corruption, climate change, and religious and ethnic reconciliation will be discussed by the likes of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, King Abdullah of Jordan, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"I thought it would be interesting to have a shorter focus conference that would give people an opportunity to learn about three or four issues every year in some depth," Clinton said. "At the end of the conference, they should be able to make a commitment to take some specific action in one of these areas over the coming year."

1. Just Like Poppy Bush
When Poppy Bush got out of office he too started intense world wide programs to help..... Oh, wait a minute. He just started "consolidating the world's wealth in as few hands as possible" and began a "New World Order" of mass murder and corruption.

I guess the similarities ended at "ex-president".

2. Please...not with that A$$hole Ahhnold.....NO...
Clinton by including Asshole in world affairs is just legitimizing Ahhnold's existence. Making him important and helping Ahhnold to accomplish his Hitler's doctrine of ruling the world. That's it, fuuck Clinton.

5. I've the feeling this was Arnold's idea
to come on board. In the interest of saving his flagging political career. Not that it will help, one whit.

6. Ahhnold runs the most populous state in the U.S. though.
He may be stupid, but he isn't a religious nut. If Clinton can use Ahhnold to undercut the religious nuts, good for him.

7. AHNOLD!?!?!?
By including "Ahnold",his initiative will lose credibility,IMHO.
What does this "piece of meat" know about world problems? It is a joke to include him.I didn't expext this from Bill Clinton.

3. Why not follow the lead of Jimmy Carter
by taking an activist role on the world stage? Carter's tireless humanitarian efforts should be the model for Clinton.

Sorry, but corrupt politicians like Blair and Ahnold sitting around discussing corruption sounds like time-wasting bullshit to me.

10. Oh, wouldn't that be great?
If only Clinton had a thousandth part of Carter's integrity, perhaps he might follow such a laudable path. Since he doesn't, I'm afraid it's an unrealistic expectation though.

12. Carter
Agreed. What Carter has been doing is exemplary and worthy of another Nobel. He is what a President of USA should be. Not Clinton and definitely NOT BUSH ,Reagan and their likes. The Repug Presidents hace been crooks(Nixon) or idiots and bufoons(Reagan & Bush).

4. Is anyone working on health care reform in the US anymore?
Without significant reform, we'll end up just like the 3rd world nations.

Just wondering.
