Feingold Accuses Bush Of Blatant Disregard After Bolton Appointment
President Uses Loophole To Get Bolton Appointed To U.N. Ambassador

Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold is criticizing the president for using a loophole to directly appoint John Bolton to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.

"At a time when we need to be doing our very best to mend frayed relationships and nurture a rock-solid international coalition to fight terrorism, the American people deserve better than John Bolton," Feingold wrote in a statement posted on his Web site. ( Read Full Statement )

Bolton promised to work tirelessly to promote U.S. values and interests in the international community after Bush announced his appointment Monday, while the Senate is away on recess.

Bush's move ends a five-month impasse with Democrats who accused Bolton of abusing subordinates and twisting intelligence to fit his conservative ideology.

19. And I will sixth it.
Damned schmuck! TWO damned schmucks! Wouldn't it be wonderful if the UN refused to seat bolton - because he didn't have the proper mandate or endorsement of the United States Senate? But naaaahhh... NOBODY wants to stand up to bush anymore. Let's give the baby his bottle.

MAN this is getting OLD. :grr:

4. WHICH US values and interest? Certainly not mine or the rest of the
MAJORITY who did not want to see the usurper back in office.

He wasn't elected by the people, there wasn't any "mandate", and the only values and interests that Bolton will promote are those of the neocons and corporatists.

I REALLY hope this appointment comes back to bite *co in the a$$.

Fitz, where are those damned indictments? I'd love to see them come out during recess.

6. Twisting intelligence and obstructing an investigation of the matter
as the issue with Bolton -- not abusing subordinates.

Unless ofcourse you consider the threat of firing subordinates for NOT twisting intelligence as just mere abusing subordinates.

The CORPORATE MEDIA really doesn't get it AND

more disappointing still, few in the Democratic Leadership are holding the MEDIA accountable by getting the damned message out.

Bravo to Feingold for showing some heart here.

WHERE ARE THE REST OF THE DEMOCRATIC WIMPS!!!!

10. Most disrespectful.
Bushco has no respect for the world and this is clear proof.

I'd like to see the U.N. freeze the bastard out of there. He deserves whatever disrespect he gets.

18. Rich Black Men Not on My List Either
The "rich" are *'s base. That and those people disillusioned enough to think that if they work hard at their $8.50 an hour job and keep voting Repug, they too will be millionaires someday and bask in the glory of their $275,000.00 tax cut windfall.

$275,000.00 will allow you to make quite a few upgrades on the "double-wide". Maybe even enough for some steel belted radials and chrome hubcaps.

21. We need to push the "loophole" phrase.
IMHO, too many average joe's are taking Bolton's appointment very matter-of-factly -- the majority may not agree with it but it's seen as acceptable in the world of politics. Like Harry Reid said, this is another "abuse of power" by the Bush Administration. It should be framed as such, the reality: Bush used a loophole to bypass the Senate and appoint Bolton, thus committing yet another abuse of power.
