ABCNews: Third prosecutor critical of Guantanamo trials
Third prosecutor critical of Guantanamo trials

By North America correspondent Leigh Sales

A third US military prosecutor has walked out of the commissions process set up to try Guantanamo Bay detainees because of concerns it was unfair, the ABC has learned.

Australian detainee David Hicks is due to stand trial under the system.

Air Force Captain Carrie Wolf chose to take a reassignment along with other prosecutors.

Capt Wolf asked to leave the Office of Military Commissions at the same time as two other colleagues, Major Robert Preston and Captain John Carr.

Earlier this week, the ABC revealed that in March 2004, Maj Preston and Capt Carr requested transfers because they believed the process was "rigged" and pursuing "marginal" cases.

1. Good to know she has spoken out against this process.
Looks as if she wants to keep a low profile, and out of range of Pentagon attacks on her.

Interesting timing, as they seemed to think they had adequately scoffed off the seriousness of the remarks from the first two prosecutors, and trashed them well enough to leave the impression they were just another of the growing list of screw-ups, malcontents, and clowns who can't get with the system.

Now they'll have to devise an entire new set of insults and put-downs for this new conscientious prosecutor.

Yay, Captain Carrie Wolf! Hip hip hooooray! :woohoo:

3. A national disgrace! How many prosecutors must resign before they act to
stop this travesty of justice. Why doesn't Australia push for war crimes?

4. Oh, what complainers, and quitters, too!
Those defendants were tortured fair and square! And besides, they're all dog haters (well, at least attack-dog haters)! Besides, this is what the Persecution is for, to persecute -- oops, I mean Prosecution and prosecute.
