13-year-old accused of murdering DEA agent in Honduras boasts he'll flee ja
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-hond03.html

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras -- A 13-year-old boy accused of killing a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent said Tuesday he plans to escape from jail -- as he has three times before -- and kill journalists.

''I won't be here much longer,'' Erlan Colindres said in statements broadcast on Honduras' main radio station. ''I will escape to kill all of the journalists.''

He spoke to a group of reporters from a jail cell at a juvenile correction facility outside of Tegucigalpa. Colindres has escaped from the facility three times since 2002, Honduran Security Minister Oscar Alvarez said.

''I don't care if I die outside, but I have to get out of here,'' Colindres said, then screamed at the other detainees: ''What are you doing here? I want you in the streets.''

17. This kid is a menace to society. He is already suspected in
numerous murders, and escaped from that so-called jail 3 times, so his threat has merit.

22. Because journalists were there -
sounds like this kid hates everyone. If he's a mass murderer at 13, I'd hate to see the life's journey he took to get there. No mention of parents or family in the article.

9. I can't see any reason why they would.
I imagine that might be part of what's going on with this kid.

11. Little boy is either a natural born killer or a natural born leader
A boy at his age commanding the other inmates to get out on the streets and kill, presumably.

The benevolent ghost of John Negroponte lives on.

12. Or both
One can be both a natural born killer and a natural born leader.

13. They do often come in pairs, don't they
Natural born killers and natural born rulers rather than leaders, that is.

Suspected in more than a dozen murders at 13?

14. I must say, he is a strong leader with a clear vision.
Uncompromising, bold.

He should be the next president of the US.

But if not president, perhaps ambassador to Iraq, our man in Baghdad, might do.

15. Why are our DEA agents patrolling the planet?
I have no sympathy for those government employees goofing around outside of our borders. It's wrong. Just as wrong as what this kid did. He'd be alive today if he weren't snooping around in another country. Having said that, I do not know what he was doing. It could have been legitimate. I'm assuming it wasn't.

16. Of for goodness sake.
This kid, at 13, is suspected in dozen killings. And you think this poor agent was to blame for his own murder?

24. I should have put OT on my subject line
My comment is about the agent. Not the murderer kid. Murder has always been with us. DEA agents haven't.

29. because these gangs are impacting both countries
these gangs are operating both in california and in honduras

multiple murders of honduran civilians on the street, not just the one dea agent have been reported, multiple murders of children too, do you really think this killer is a heroic freedom fighter who only fights the dea, i don't doubt he has killed plenty of honduran teens as they fight over turf

both gov'ts would like an end to it

is that really a bad thing?

Rigorous Intuition has a very interesting take on all this.

More than meets the eye? With the DEA and the BFEE that's always a safe bet.

After the decades of U.S. involvement in Central America, and generations of kids who have grown up knowing nothing but warfare, can we really be surprised?
