U.K. to Institute New Deportation Measures

LONDON -- Prime Minister Tony Blair on Friday announced new deportation measures against those who foster hatred and advocate violence, as his government tries to counter Islamic extremists in Britain.

Blair said the government would draw up a list of extremist Web sites, book shops and organizations and said that involvement with them could be a trigger to deport foreign nationals.

LONDON, England (CNN) -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair has announced new measures to deport and exclude from UK for those advocating hatred and violence.

Blair said Friday the UK's Human Rights Act would be amended if necessary to counter Islamic extremists in Britain.

The government also plans to draw up a list of extremist Web sites, book shops and organizations that promote these extremist.

"This is not, in any way whatever, aimed at the decent law-abiding Muslim community of Britain," Blair said.

"But if you come to this country from abroad, then don't meddle in extremism," he said. "Because if you meddle in it, and engage in it, you're going back out again."

And he's here on a visa. You don't need convict in order to deport. You're asking the UK to live up to a higher standard than any other country on earth.

For God's sake, he was kicked out of Saudi Arabia because he was too extreme for THEM.

Does political asylum in Britain provide such a visa? (I don't know.) Also, why is it that easy to get such a status for a guy who "was kicked out of Saudi Arabia because he was too extreme for them"?

I saw a documentary a few months ago (I don't recall what the title was) about these "hate speech rallies" guys in Britain (re. "Omar Bakri Muhammed addresses an al-Muhajiroun rally in Trafalgar Square before he reportedly disbanded the group last year"), and there were policemen standing not very far away from the stage while the "speaker" was literally "spewing" all of his hatred (not to mention his calls for violent actions) about everything "western style civilization" there, in the open...

And the cops did absolutely nothing to stop them (or arrest and charge them)! They were just smirking and laughing together like two dumb idiots!! Aren't there any laws that prohibit holding such "hate rallies" in Britain? If so, why didn't they get arrested when they broke that law? And in case there are, all I'm saying is that, maybe if the Justice Ministry 'employees' (policemen here) had been busier doing their jobs correctly, this criminal would be serving his time in jail for some of the crimes he committed.

That's all I'm saying. Hope that doesn't offend anyone.

There's been lots of comment in the UK on how much footage of killed women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan and atrocities in those countries are used to indoctrinate suicide bombers. I wonder if posting evidence of such war crimes or making it available will become illegal under these proposed laws.

I guess not, because as Labour and Pravda News 24 keep saying, it's a religious problem not a political problem. :sarcasm:

Tony Blair has outlined a raft of plans to extend powers to deport or exclude foreigners who encourage terrorism.

The UK can already exclude or deport those who pose a threat to security and Mr Blair said he also wanted to clamp down on those who advocated terror.

The prime minister said he was prepared to amend human rights laws to make deportations more straightforward.
