Oil Prices Close At Record High - AP\MSNBC
U.S. crude settles at $62.31 a barrel

<snip>

Crude oil prices settled at a new high above $62 a barrel on Friday, rallying late in the day on concerns about refinery snags and following the release of a positive U.S. jobs report.

Light, sweet crude for September delivery rose 93 cents to close at $62.31 a barrel, a nominal record for crude since trading began on the New York Mercantile Exchange in 1983. The previous settlement high was $61.89 a barrel set Tuesday.

Oil futures rose as high as $62.45 on Friday, a nickel shy of the intraday peak set earlier in the week.

Gasoline futures rose 2.99 cents to settle at $1.8322 a gallon, while heating oil rose 2.34 cents to $1.7312.

3. And underemployment of Americans & funny statistics hide the fact
that it is the American Middle class you are keeping inflation low and subsidizing the oil industry into keeping on without having to develop markets for alternative fuels and smaller cars.

Thye've just given up on specific reasoning and decided to just make shit up altogether. Jobs report is good? Raise the price??

I hate these fucking capitalistic cronies. Damn them, damn them all to hell.

13. This is getting rediculious.........
its going to hurt this winter 3.00 per gal. for heating oil.

I have natural gas so thats going to take a wack too, could never figure that one out, as its claimed we have so much of it. My utility company is asking the states energy & power board to approve increases of 17% for electric & 13% for natural gas. That would raise my bill by at least $60 a month.

Another kick in the ass for Joe Six pack.

14. Seriously, it's time to start cutting back.
Everywhere I look, there are bigger trucks, bigger SUV's, hundreds of huge RV's whizzing by on Highway 101.

At least that's what I'm seeing here in Portland. It's just ridiculous.

EVERY single person in my family has a new car, truck or SUV. My brother just bought a 5th wheel trailer that's GOT to be 100 feet long. He just took it down to Southern California. I think he said he dragged that thing 2,300 miles!!!

Just imagine how many barrels of Light, Sweet Crude he burned up. And for what? The damn thing has 2 bedrooms, and a living room with a big-screen TV. (sorry to rant, DU;ers).

We need to get with the program here, and start conserving.

15. I quit my job, driving 35 miles and got another job
less pay, but its offset by the gas prices I was paying. Ill work a mile from home and get paid less, but make the same in the long run. Cannot afford the gas. I was working 2 days a week just to pay for it. They begged me to stay at my old job, but I told them the truth. Gas prices.
I will use electric heaters to keep warm this winter. I will keep the gas OFF and I live like a pauper now. Its the only way I can make it.

16. When it's cold, shut all the doors in your place, and run the
space heater just in the room you are in. I did this last winter in SoCal(yes, it gets cold inthe winter) and saved a good bit of $ on heating costs over running the forced-air furnace to heat the entire house.

It's about the only thing that will slow down Americans' piggish behavior when it comes to gas consumption.
