14 killed in fresh wave of violence

BAGHDAD: Fourteen people were killed in separate rebel attacks in Iraq yesterday and five corpses were also found in the northern city of Mosul, including that of a kidnapped Christian, police said.

Four soldiers were killed when their army patrol came under attack near Samarra, while a woman and her infant son were killed in a bomb blast near Al Dawr, both towns north of Baghdad.

One Iraqi army officer was killed when a motorcycle-riding bomber blew himself up near the northern town of Balad, while a doctor, Saad Al Shumari, was shot dead on the highway between Baghdad and Samarra.

In another incident armed gunmen opened fire on a queue of cars outside a gas station in Dora, killing one civilian, while an ex-Shi'ite militiaman was gunned down near Baquba, just north of the capital, police said.

1. How many times can we say the same things, feel the same feeling of
shame and disgust that our country is responsible for this mess and there's not a damn thing that it seems we can do about it? Some of us keep trying to apologize for it. But it's pointless. Unless people take to the streets (like once before), this will continue.

2. Bush and Cheaney Must Jack Themselves Off To Death
It's the only logical explanation for the continuing carnage.
