Groen Brothers, McAfee, Viisage Growth Sparked By Homeland Security, Says Investrend Research Analyst Ryan Fuhrmann, CFA, In New Sector Coverage

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 8, 2005--(Investrend Research Syndicate) Terrorist activities in the U.S. and abroad have ushered in a new era of urgency and devotion to protect against future attacks, and in the U.S., the Department of Homeland Security will continue to have a profound influence on how the private sector evolves to address national security initiatives, says Investrend Research analyst Ryan Fuhrmann, CFA, in the initiating Homeland Security Sector report, including special Spotlight coverage on such key HS corporations as Groen Brothers Aviation (OTCBB: GNBA), McAfee, Inc. (NYSE: MFE) and Viisage Technology (NASDAQ: VISG).

The coverage, commissioned by Cronus Capital Markets (http://www.cronuscapitalmarkets.com), which partners with the 400-member Homeland Security Industries Association (http://www.hsianet.org), and provides the homeland security sector index in partnership with International Securities Exchange (NYSE: ISE), will be updated quarterly, and is the first to continuously monitor the new homeland security sector.

The report is available in its entirety, along with the Sector Spotlights at http://www.investrendresearch.com In it, the analyst also stated:

Homeland Security equities have "experienced significant share price appreciation since 2001," with Lehman Brothers (NYSE: LEH) alone estimating 27 stocks it follows appreciated nearly 320% in a three-year period that began August, 2001, compared to the S&P's 5% during the same period.

The sector is driven by a $49.9 billion request by the current administration, up 8.6% from FY2005, with spending earmarked for enhanced domestic security, improved counterterrorism measures, infrastructure protection and improved services for other federal programs and industry.

6. Homeland Security testing radio tags. Boy they sure are busy......
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 03:40 PM by Joanne98
Homeland security official describes radio tag testing

By WILLIAM KATES
Associated Press Writer

August 8, 2005, 3:44 PM EDT

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. -- Foreign travelers will notice few changes getting into and out of the United States while border officials test new radio identification tags at five crossings into Canada and Mexico, a top Homeland Security official said Monday.

The radio tags will be part of the standard registration process for entering the United States. The wireless technology is nearly identical to that already being used to speed up passage at toll booths on many of the nation's highways, said P.T. Wright, the operations director for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's US-VISIT Program.

"You're not going to see much change, and that's the key message," said Wright, who joined U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials to demonstrate the new system at the Thousand Islands Bridge crossing from Canada into the United States.

Testing of the radio frequency identification tags is also being done at the Peace Arch and Pacific Highway crossings in Blaine, Wash., and two crossings in Nogales, Ariz. The testing will run through next summer.
