Military Families to Join Cindy Sheehan in Crawford
Military Families to Join Cindy Sheehan in Crawford; Gold Star and Military Families from Across Country on Their Way to Texas

CRAWFORD, Texas, Aug. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- More members of Gold Star Families for Peace (GSFP) and Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) are traveling to Texas to join the protest outside of President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, where he is vacationing for the month of August.

Starting today, Gold Star families from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arkansas and other states whose loved ones have died as a result of the war in Iraq will be joining one of their members, Cindy Sheehan, at the protest. Ms. Sheehan, whose son Army Specialist Casey Sheehan was killed in Sadr City, Iraq on April 4, 2004, has been in Crawford since August 5th, demanding a meeting with the President. These families will be joined by military families with loved ones currently serving in Iraq or about to deploy or redeploy to Iraq. All of these families are coming to Crawford, Texas to share their stories about the personal costs of the war in Iraq and add their voices to the call for a meeting with President Bush.

On August 3, 2005 President Bush, speaking about the dreadful loss of life in Iraq in early August, said "We have to honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission... The families of the fallen can be assured that they died for a noble cause." Gold Star and military families coming to Crawford know that the cause was not noble; that their loved ones died, or are currently in harm's way, serving in a war based on lies.

In the first 8 days of August, 36 service members died in Iraq; countless Iraq children, women and men are dying each day. All of the families traveling to Crawford will carry the message to the vacationing President: Honor our fallen and honor our loved ones' service by ending the occupation, bringing the troops home now and taking care of them when they get here.

President Bush has consistently tried to hide, and to hide from, the cost of the war in Iraq. This August, these costs are being brought right to his doorstep.

Members of Gold Star Families for Peace and Military Families Speak Out who are traveling to Crawford will be available for interview beginning on Tuesday afternoon August 9th.

The more the merrier. If Bush* was smart, he would meet with Ms. Sheehan asap before this gets out of hand. His whole vacation would be ruined.

9. DUers, we need to watch their backs! AND the backs of any active military
kin of theirs. We need to make damned sure there is no pattern of any sort of retribution taken against any memebers of their families who are on active duty. We need to have our eyes open, our ears up, any contacts in the military alerted to same. If there is any, I mean ANY pattern of retribution, we hit the ground running and screaming about it until MSM has to report it! If we have to go to foreign press to publicize if it happens, we do it.

These people REALLY ARE fighting for our freedom and liberty now. We have to watch their backs.

11. This is my fear
the knee jerk by RoveCo will be to smear, slander, libel any military connected with these families not to mention the families themselves. I can't go to Crawford, but any ideas how we can counter the smears that are forthcoming? That's something I help with.

68. Letters to the editor from every corner of this nation and
possibly backup protests in other areas. This is feeling very much like the first protests that started the opposition to the Vietnam War. That was started by two mothers of soldiers killed by friendly fire when they found out they were lied to about the circumstances. I realize that many of us have been protesting this war since before it began but we have to keep up the pressure now that the military is beginning to realize the mess they are in.

36. Good watching, havocmom.
Sadly, you are probably right.

It won't matter that they're all on the same side. If theyir families are breaking with the "brotherhood," there could be tough times ahead for some of our soldiers.

Especially the ones with D's behind their names.

42. I totally agree.
This website and others like it are widely viewed and not just within the U.S. If anything like that happens, we need a petition with a lot of signatures - and I wouldnt hesitate at also contacting the foreign media at the same time as the domestic MSM. Time waiting on that issue is just unacceptable. Let's stop it before it really starts. The troops do their part for us, and it's our part to make sure we cover them as well.

That's what I call "Supporting the Troops", not this yellow elephant nonsense.

6. I like the fact that the media has been using the word "hide"...
...because cowards hide, and Bush...being a coward...has found one thing in life that he does well. Hide.

60. Cindy's gonna "smoke'em out!"
like ole Cowboy George said he was going to do to Bin Laden. What ridiculous blather he talks. What bad movie dialogue. And his scared little children followers eat this stuff up. Right. He's gonna smoke'em out. He hasn't. And now he's cowering in his house while a grieving mother stands outside waiting for him to acknowledge her existence.
Not exactly Gary Cooper. More like Don Knotts as Mr. Chicken.

8. Now the snowball effect... the CowardinChief has been defeated.
The sc**bag's hunker-down-and-hope-she-goes-away strategy has failed. The shit he will be buried under now will mark the end of his *residency.

In the end, character (or in the case of the CowardinChief, lack thereof) is the final determinant of events. It may take a while, but ghat's the way it usually plays out.

Cindy has character, the CowardinChief has none.

...just like Herbert Hoover in the Depression, having the military fire on all of those hungry men, veterans, demanding money to feed their families in D.C., so will BushCo, have these people arrested and God knows what else...I just have one fucking question...

WHY DO WE ACTUALLY ALLOW REPUBLICANS TO REMAIN IN THE UNITED STATES?
THEY'RE NOT AMERICANS-THEY DON'T KNOW THE FIRST FUCKING THING THAT AMERICA IS SUPPOSED TO STAND FOR!

17. YES! and once bush leaves TX, the Sheehan Caravan will begin..
I think a massive group will grow in Crawford, bush wont see them and when bush returns to DC, Cindy will drive there.... followed by 100's or 1000's of cars in the biggest caravan ever!! Like the march from Selma, the caravan can pick up people. The idea is critical mass for the sept. 24 rally in DC. We need millions, and this can be the catalyst that makes it happen! .. so help it happen anyway you can...

participate, donate, write, call or just tell your friends and family! cant make it?.. sponsor someone else! everyone can help!

let him know that Mothers in Az. with group Freewaybloggers ..www.freewayblogger.com and Code Pink, United for Peace and Justice are mobilizing Mothers who will turn themselves in
when and if Cindy is arrested.
HE LOVED IT!!!!!! Gave me a number for one of his media contacts and asked if he could contact media. Took all my info down.

Media contact asked that we forward the press release as soon as we finish it.

Hadi said that he would be in touch and that he would love to see this new buzz come to life and for Mothers especially who cannot make it to Crawford and who are willing to turn themselves in as a sign of protest and solidarity for Cindy to please contact local media.

We think people who get large groups together in your local areas should turn yourself in all at the same location.

I'm READY AND WILLING TO GO TO JAIL!
I will demand to be arrested! If Cindy goes down, so do we!

55. All this cowardly skunk has to do is talk to this woman
this mother, who has lost her son in the Shrub's glorious war. He owes her for the sacrifice that she has given this country.

My take on this is the longer he avoids her, the worse he looks, especially if the MSM gets off their collective asses and really covers this story. It will show the Shrub as the uncaring bastard he truly is.

Shrub claims to honor the service men and women of this country--well let's see how much he truly honors their families now that more of them are joining Cindy her at Camp Casey.

58. I would like to see Lily Lipscomb, and the Jersey Girls, and others, like
Sgt. Camilo Mejia, join them. And Paul Hackett. I wonder if anybody has contacted them. There are so many brave people, who have been through Bush's Hell in a very direct, personal way, who could bolster her up and help create a massive protest and demand for accountability.

I'm so glad other military families are joining her! She speaks for all of the abused soldiers, for all those who have died, Americans and Iraqis, and for all of us!

62. Veteran's Boots on the ground in Crawford
For any vets, or friends of vets going out to Crawford, consider taking an old pair of combat boots to leave on Prairie Chapel Road. It would be a nice visual reminder of those we have lost, make a nice photo-op for the lazy press and remind Bush that we won't forget the brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, sons and daughters who have served bravely and won't be coming home.

I'll be going out there and taking mine, plus dropping off what supplies I can. The Secret Service or local cops may just sweep them up, but even then it sends a message.

65. Woodstock-like event potential
Cindy Sheehan may have started a Woodstock-like event: sincere, spontaneous, authentic, memorable.

This kind of thing could be a much more powerful anti-war event than the planned September 24th rally in DC-- especially in that it takes the authorities by surprise.

Go Cindy!

67. Woodstock
Imagine that. Get some DeadHeads in a dozen buses to go down there, homestead an open pasture and start rockin out and pretty soon we have a veritable happening with half a million strong descending on the Turd's residence, passing joints and celebrating free love, peace and real freedom. God how friggin ironic that would be. At the Epicenter of this facist regime. Screw this monkey right where he breaths.

71. Apparently she hasn't paid enough to see the president.
A lobbyist with with a defense contractor or an energy company could get an audience. Does anyone know what the access prince is? Apparently she has not paid a high enough prince.
