Harris Kicks Off Her Senate Campaign

The Associated Press

SARASOTA, Fla. -- U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris began her campaign for Senate on Tuesday, hoping that she can convince voters there is more to her record than overseeing the disputed 2000 presidential election.

Nineteen months after declining to run for an open Senate seat while President Bush was on the ballot, Harris seeks to unseat incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson in a 2006 race that some Republicans say she can't win because independent and Democratic voters don't think much of her.

But she may have a clear shot at Nelson. No other Republicans have expressed a strong interest in running. Even with an opponent, she would be considered a favorite to win the nomination because of her high name recognition, ability to raise money and hero status among Republican voters who believe she helped preserve Bush's 537-vote victory when she oversaw five weeks of recounts as Florida secretary of state.

The recount, though, is the last thing Harris will want voters to focus on. Her campaign will begin with a five day listening tour across the state.

2. Was she making balloon animals for the kids?
http://www.phobia-fear-release.com/clown-phobia.html

Seeing a clown or only thinking about a clown can result in the following symptoms:
breathlessness, dizziness, excessive sweating, nausea, dry mouth, feeling sick, shaking, heart palpitations, inability to speak or think clearly, a fear of dying, becoming mad or losing control, a sensation of detachment from reality or a full blown anxiety attack.

You are not the only one to suffer from clown phobia. Most sufferers are surprised to learn that they are far from alone in this surprisingly common, although often unspoken, phobia.

Clown phobia is an intense fear of something that poses little or no actual danger. While adults with this phobia realize that these fears are irrational, they often find that facing, or even thinking about facing, the feared situation brings on a panic attack or severe anxiety.

3. She just needs to keep it up...
...keep talking about her blue eye shadow...that will really help boost her chances of becoming a Senator. I can see where one's use or non-use of eye shadow can really prove useful to be a leader in the United States <sarcasm>.

8. Coulrophobia comes close
The fear of clowns. :)

I thought it may be related to Anncoulterphobia but thats a rare form of transvestiphobia common among liberals who masochistically watch Fox News shows.

10. Votes: We cast 'em, they count 'em. She is a documented election fixer.
She may not have a chance in a legitimate election, but in Florida, legitimate elections are a thing of the past.

In order for Nelson to win, that election is going to have to be monitored with a microscope. It's a guarantee that Harris already is already working on fixing it.

12. The new RW meme: Dems and progressives won't vote for her because of 2000.
"...some Republicans say she can't win because independent and Democratic voters don't think much of her."

YA THINK? Jesus Christ on a trailer hitch. We wouldn't vote for her even if she hadn't been involved in the 2000 theft. I heard this meme repeated on CNN or MSGOP this morning as I was flipping channels. Are these journalists and newscasters just crazy? Why would they even say or write such a thing unless Rove et al told them too? :eyes:

19. In 1999 I thought Americans were too smart to vote for *
No sane person is going to vote for a spoiled idiot son of an idiot son of a Nazi supporter. He is a deserter that is totally unable to form a complete sentence. He has never worked a day in his life Americans are too smart for that.

Man did I get a lesson.

20. The majority of Americans didn't vote for Bush.
It was Harris's crimes that directly resulted in Bush getting selected as president. In a very direct way, the deaths of thousands of Americans are due to her handiwork.

When I think of people like Harris, I understand why people came up with the concept of hell.

22. Good point, they still could not have pulled it off without the
collective silence of the rest of the country. I myself was, and still am, OUTRAGED by the actions of the SC. For me the fall of our country happened on December 12, 2000. A Date that will stay with me forever in infamy till the day I die.

23. It wasn't just Harris. She was the eye of the storm.

She received the bulk of the media focus. But it was also Jeb, James Baker, the Supreme Court and there's no doubt in my mind that Rove greatly exceeded his authority wielding his influence too.

17. Katherine Harris just doesn't understand -
the Repubs have dumped her. She's outlived her usefulness. They've been rather blatant about this. They've pretty much told her to get lost.

I think she's in a state of denial. She feels that Bush and his crew of cockroaches owe her something. After all, she teamed up with Jeb to push Divine Intercession in his favor. He WON because of her, goddamnit.

To boot, she's very beautiful. At least she thinks so. She's charming, witty. I heard her talking once on the Sean Vanity show, and she sounded SO chirpy and sweet. What more do voters want?

But then again - Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

screen. She has screwed her way through Congress, now I guess
she wants a few senators under her belt, so to speak.
